In a summer full of major changes at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham fans are beginning to notice the effect this has had on several Red Dragons legends.
Wrexham achieved promotion to the Championship last season, and after the success of the two campaigns prior, it was clear that major changes had to be made to prepare the club for the English second tier.
Phil Parkinson had brought in several players during his tenure in North Wales, but a major overhaul was set to take place this summer. Wrexham have signed 10 new players, and it is expected that they will not stop there.
The quality of the players brought in at the Racecourse Ground are at Championship quality, and whilst there is much to be optimistic about on the arrival of new talents, it has left many fans ‘feeling bad’ for those who got Wrexham to the Championship.

Wrexham fans feel ‘sad’ as Red Dragons continue to replace legends
One of the major changes that Wrexham fans will have to get used to this season is not seeing Red Dragons legend Paul Mullin donning the famous red kit.
After Mullin moved on loan to Wigan Athletic, more Wrexham players could still leave, with Ollie Palmer’s future notably in doubt.
It is a reality of top-level football that appears to have hit some Wrexham fans, as one Red Dragons supporter on X wrote: “‘Feeling bad for all the lads who got us here you now want us to offload quickly in the window. Understand the project but gutted by the process.
“it’s sad on the lads who got us here. Miss that camaraderie.”
Similarly sombre Wrexham fans responded to this comment, as one said that ‘unfortunately that’s professional football’.
Another fan wrote: “They’re the reason Wrexham are where they are, and they’ll be forever praised for the work they did. But yeah, once you get to a certain level, you have to match your league’s talent.”
One Wrexham supporter focused more on Mullin’s departure, reflecting on how it was a positive for the club.
“I was gutted by Paul Mullin getting loaned out, but the more I thought about it, I realised it was for the best because he would struggle at this level.”
New signings were pivotal for Wrexham’s success
Just like when Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac took over at Wrexham, the new owners supplied Phil Parkinson with several new signings to replace the old players. That is happening once again this summer, but fans have become attached to those who are moving on.
Players do come and go in football, especially for a club like Wrexham who have rocketed through the divisions, and such a reality has to be accepted.
It may feel disconnecting that several familiar faces will not be around, but such changes are crucial to ensure that Wrexham grow as a club and is able to compete with the high levels of the Championship.
