Wrexham have snapped up Lewis O’Brien with boss Phil Parkinson completing a fourth signing inside the last week.

It’s never too dull around Wrexham these days, but few could have expected the recent flurry in transfer activity.

With just over two weeks to go until the start of the Championship season, Wrexham have seriously bolstered Phil Parkinson’s squad.

Liberato Cacace joined Wrexham last week, just days before George Thomason arrived from Bolton Wanderers.

Parkinson completed a hat-trick of new signings on Wednesday, as free agent forward Josh Windass signed for Wrexham on a three-year deal.

Three has now become four, with Lewis O’Brien finalising a long-awaited move from Nottingham Forest.

Wrexham fans on Lewis O’Brien deal

Wrexham were pushing to sign O’Brien earlier in July, but rumours of a potential deal went cold amid reported issues over his wage demands.

Parkinson remained patient and has now landed his man, with O’Brien signing a three-year deal at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham fans certainly seem to be impressed, taking to social media to praise Parkinson’s latest coup.

Supporters have marvelled at what a ‘tremendous’ and ‘massive’ signing O’Brien is for this Wrexham squad.

Others feel that O’Brien will become a huge player, and his arrival only strengthens Parkinson’s options – though that brings some tough decisions.

Fans can’t wait to see O’Brien in action, believing that he is a real statement signing and potentially proves that Wrexham are the biggest club in Wales, having snapped up a player who dazzled on loan at Swansea City last season.

What comes next for Wrexham?

Wrexham fans loved the Windass deal and seemingly feel just as excited about O’Brien, if not more.

Four signings in less than a week is pretty impressive stuff, and a period of quiet may not be out of the question after such a busy few days.

Wrexham won’t be done just yet, though, and reports suggest that Wrexham could spend £10million on a new striker.

Whether the signing of Windass changes those plans remains to be seen, especially having committed a potential club-record fee to signing O’Brien.

Another central defender may be wanted as well, especially in terms of adding a natural left-footer to Parkinson’s back line.

Lewis Brunt performed admirably on the left side of defence last season, but another option could be targeted as Wrexham seek to make a big impact in the Championship.
