Wrexham snapped up Liberato Cacace earlier this summer, sparking changes in Phil Parkinson’s options at left wing-back.
Phil Parkinson has been wedded to playing with wing-backs throughout his reign as Wrexham boss.
3-5-2 has been the magic formation for Wrexham, inspiring three straight promotions under Parkinson.
The Wrexham boss has decided to bring in major quality at left wing-back this summer, with Liberato Cacace arriving at the STōK Cae Ras.
The New Zealand international joined Wrexham from Empoli, having shown quality in Serie A after arriving from Belgian side Sint-Truiden.
Cacace will now compete with James McClean at left wing-back, pushing two players out of the STōK Cae Ras in the process.

Burton Albion boss excited by Sebastian Revan
Jacob Mendy has been made available by Wrexham, while Sebastian Revan has already been farmed out on loan.
Revan has joined Burton Albion on loan, having endured a frustrating first year at the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham pounced to sign Revan from Aston Villa last summer, and he showed major attacking potential in pre-season.
The League One campaign proved tricky for Revan, though, and he was left out of Wrexham’s promotion run-in.
Revan is now back in League One and came off the bench in Burton’s 0-0 draw with Port Vale on Saturday.
Brewers boss Gary Bowyer saw enough from Revan’s cameo to be encouraged, telling Burton’s official YouTube channel that Revan’s display is ‘exciting’ for the future.
Bowyer believes Revan and right wing-back Kyran Lofthouse can cause major problems moving forward, seemingly seeing the Wrexham loanee as the ideal signing.
“Moving forward, that’s exciting to watch those two as wing-backs for how we want to play,” said Bowyer.
“I’m delighted for Seb to get on the pitch and make his debut, and, again, that’s another positive for us.
“The fact that Lofty and Seb started to get joy down those flanks is something we can build on,” he added.
James Jones suffering Burton Albion frustration
Revan joined a former Wrexham man by making the move to Burton, with James Jones already on board at the Pirelli Stadium.
Wrexham allowed Jones to leave in January, with Rob McElhenney saying an emotional goodbye to the Scot.
Jones has struggled with injuries throughout his career, and that has proven to be the case once again at Burton.
The Scot has managed just four appearances for Burton and hasn’t played since March as his injury woes continue.
“James Jones, obviously he injured his foot last season and then just suffered a setback on his recovery with his knee a little bit, so he’s going to be out for a while as well,” said Bowyer on Burton’s official website earlier in August.
Jones may not return for a while, but Wrexham fans will be keen to see him and Revan shine when they team up in the Burton starting XI.
