Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has been under the spotlight in recent weeks, after what’s been a slow start to the 2025/26 season.
After eight games of the new season, Wrexham find themselves sitting in 15th place of the Championship table with nine points to their name.
It’s a steady start, but owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are eager to fast-track their team to the Premier League especially given the money spent this summer.
Wrexham spent £33million on new signings and that figure could even rise to £40million with add-ons. Phil Parkinson then is under pressure to succeed, but it’s not been easy.
Last month, reports emerged claiming that Parkinson was under growing pressure at Wrexham after a 3-1 defeat against QPR. But he’s since made amends with a four-game unbeaten run.

Phil Parkinson could last the season at Wrexham, says EFL expert
After three-straight promotions, Parkinson certainly has a lot of credibility at the Racecourse, or ‘credit in the bank’ as EFL expert Benjamin Bloom puts it.
Speaking recently, Bloom gave his verdict on whether or not Parkinson will last in North Wales and he predicted that Parkinson will actually make it past Christmas, and even to the end of the season.
He explained on the Championship Check In: “I think it’s a fairly safe seat, to use a political analogy, and I think there is a lot of credit in the bank there, for Phil Parkinson. So I think he’s fairly safe.”
Bloom later added: “Let’s be bold; I think he’s passing Christmas for sure, and I think he’ll last the season.”

Wrexham’s next five fixtures are make or break for Phil Parkinson
There might be a growing sense among fans that Parkinson isn’t the man to make that final leap into the Premier League.
He’s worked wonders up to now and there’s every chance this season could end in another promotion. But it’s been a slow start, even when armed with a very strong Championship side.
With international breaks coming up, the next few weeks could be crucial for Parkinson, whose Wrexham side have some tricky games on the agenda.
Wrexham take on Birmingham City in the Championship on Friday night before games against Stoke City, Oxford United, Middlesbrough, and then Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
If Wrexham can maintain form in these and maybe make it into the Carabao Cup quarter finals then Parkinson’s future would no doubt be secure for the time being.
