Wrexham sent a number of players out on loan during the 2024 summer transfer window.

Billy Waters has been impressing for Halifax in the first six months of the campaign but is now expected to return to the Racecourse Ground this month.

Elsewhere, Jordan Davies has been thriving at Grimsby Town and now has more league goals than Paul Mullin this season.

However, no Wrexham player currently out on loan has impressed more than Sam Dalby in the 2024/25 campaign to date.

The centre-forward fell down the pecking order in Wales earlier this year and was shipped off to Dundee United.

Dalby is in top form away from Wrexham and was once again excellent in Dundee United’s latest outing this week.

Wrexham players react to latest Sam Dalby goal for Dundee United

Dundee United faced local rivals Dundee in a Scottish Premier League clash on January 2nd.

The former found themselves 1-0 down after 61 minutes before equalising just four minutes later.

The derby looked set to end in a draw but Dalby then netted a winner in the 88th minute. He now has a staggering 10 goals in the league this term, making him the SPL’s top scorer.

Following his latest strike, Dalby took to Instagram to send a message and several Wrexham players have since taken to the comment section of that post to react, being in total agreement about the loanee’s form.

Centre-back Max Cleworth wrote: “Super Sam,” Jacob Mendy and Ryan Barnett both reacted with four love-heart eyes emojis, Arthur Okonkwo wrote “On” followed by a fire emoji, Andy Cannon commented two fire emojis, Jordan Davies reacted with three clapping-hands emojis and Elliot Lee simply left a clapping-hands and love-heart eyes emoji in the comment section.

Will Wrexham recall Sam Dalby in January

While Dalby is on fire in Scotland, Wrexham’s current centre-forward options have been struggling to find the back of the net.

Paul Mullin only has two league goals, while Ollie Palmer has netted just three in 24 League One matches.

In turn, fans would no doubt love to see the loanee brought back to the club this month so he can start bagging for them.

Gary Weaver spoke about Wrexham recalling Dalby while commentating on the Dundee versus Dundee United game this week, claiming no decision will be made until after January 7th.

He said: “In terms of Sam Dalby, the January window is open and he could be recalled by Wrexham.

“Phil Parkinson and Wrexham won’t make that decision until after their game on the 7th of January but he is in the final year of his contract at Wrexham, so if Wrexham do want money for him, then the chances are they would have to recall him and sell him then if bids are coming or do they offer him a new deal off the back of what he has done at Tannadice in a Dundee United shirt?”
