Wrexham star Andy Cannon shares ‘amazing’ gift from Humphrey Ker after season-ending injury

Wrexham midfielder Andy Cannon is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines but Humphrey Ker is trying to make this period easier.

Wrexham continue the push for promotion to the Championship but couldn’t find a win on Saturday afternoon.

Bolton Wanderers were the visitors to the STōK Cae Ras and they managed to grind out a 0-0 draw against Wrexham.

There were just two shots on target during the game and neither side could find the winner.

Wrexham suffered heartbreak against Peterborough United in midweek, missing out on an EFL Trophy final clash at Wembley.

Phil Parkinson will be pleased to have avoided defeat and kept a clean sheet after that nightmare collapse, all whilst gaining a point on Wycombe Wanderers.

Andy Cannon shares Humphrey Ker gesture

Parkinson’s hopes of reaching the Championship have been hit with a major blow though.

Andy Cannon was handed a start against Mansfield Town last week but his performance was cut short in the first half.

Cannon went down with a serious injury and was stretchered off the pitch

Wrexham have confirmed Cannon’s injury status, announcing that he is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Wrexham players have rallied around Cannon but an ACL tear can often take more than nine months to recover from, meaning the midfielder may not play again until 2026.

This is a huge blow for Cannon and Wrexham with Humphrey Ker now offering a gesture as the midfielder prepares for a long rehabilitation period.

Posting on his Instagram story this weekend, Cannon showed that Ker had sent him a brand new Playstation 5.

Ker – now a non-executive director at Wrexham having previously served as an executive director – has at least provided some entertainment for Cannon as he begins a long road to recovery.

Cannon noted that this was an ‘amazing delivery’ to receive from Ker, adding ‘what a man’ as he showed his appreciation.

‘Amazing delivery from Humphrey Ker,’ said Cannon.

‘Making sure I don’t get bored in recovery. What a man! Appreciate it,’ he added.

Humphrey Ker is a huge Andy Cannon fan

We know that the Wrexham decision-makers love the squad as a whole, but everybody has favourites.

Luke Young was Rob McElhenney’s favourite player before leaving last summer and we would not be at all surprised if Cannon was secretly Ker’s favourite.

Ker raved about Cannon last year, suggesting that he was ‘sensational’ last season and was his Player of the Season at Wrexham.

“I wouldn’t say it was a surprise, but I think this season, we have seen Andy Cannon really showing us the best of himself,” said Ker. “He was great last year in the run-in, I think he arrived with us in January and played a really pivotal role through to the end of last season, but he started this season – I think he would agree – in quite indifferent form, but I think there were a number of factors at play with that.

“The challenges that he had to overcome off the pitch, which… distracted is the wrong word but it had been sharing head space with the brain that he needed to run out midfield. Once those were resolved, he’s been sensational. He’s been my Player of the Season, I think,” he added.

Cannon has now suffered a major injury and it’s unclear just when we will see him in the famous red shirt again.

For now, Cannon will focus on getting his recovery right – and cracking that Playstation 5 open to pass the time until he can return to action for Wrexham.
