Wrexham are set to take on some familiar faces in their upcoming League One meeting with Burton Albion.
Wrexham drew 2-2 with Cambridge United on Tuesday – a result that did little to help their promotion hopes.
In a small boost, Wycombe Wanderers also dropped two points in midweek, seeing the battle for second place remain as it was last week.
However, Mike Dodds’ side still have a small advantage in the hunt for automatic promotion, meaning it’s imperative the Red Dragons get back to winning ways this weekend when they take on Burton Albion.
The Brewers have improved a great deal in recent weeks, most recently seeing off Leyton Orient.
They are battling relegation but have been boosted in 2025 with the addition of not one, not two, but three former Wrexham players.

Anthony Forde had a lot to say about Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney
One of those players was Anthony Forde, who had seen his game time at the Racecourse Ground dwindle in the first half of 2024/25.
He was left out of their League One squad in 2024, and though he was eligible to play while the January transfer window was open, Forde opted to leave Wrexham at the end of the winter window by having his contract mutually terminated.
The 31-year-old then linked up with Burton on February 20 and is expected to feature against his former club this weekend.
Following his exit, he took to Instagram to pen a touching message after his two-and-a-half-year spell with Wrexham came to an end.
In the post, the player was quick to single out owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for praise.
He wrote: “After two and half amazing years with @wrexham_afc, it’s time for me to say goodbye and move on to the next chapter. This club has been more than just a team. I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships, memories, and experiences that will stay with me forever.
“To the incredible owners @vancityreynolds @robmcelhenney my teammates, coaches, staff, and fans – thank you for everything. Your support has meant the world to me and my family.
“I can never fully express how grateful I am for the support you gave me and my family during the hardest time of our lives.
“I’ll always look back on my time here with pride. Wishing the club all the success in the future!”

What Rob McElhenney said about Anthony Forde joining Burton
As well as Forde, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson signed for Burton after his contract with Wrexham expired in January.
James Jones also opted to make the switch to the Welsh side’s upcoming opponents after being allowed to leave by McElhenney and Reynolds.
Then, after a staggering three Wrexham players had joined Burton in the space of less than two months, McElhenney reacted to the Forde transfer, replying to a post from Burton on X/Twitter.
He wrote: “This is wonderful news. You’ve got yourselves a killer on the pitch and a gem of a human being. He will leave it all out there for you. Congrats Anthony and @burtonalbionfc !!!!!”
