Wrexham secured another point in the Championship as they battled from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

The draw does mean that Wrexham are still searching for a first league win over Leicester, as they have only ever beaten the Foxes once, and this came in the League Cup.

Phil Parkinson will be pleased with the point, as it is not easy to travel to the King Power and get a result, with the Wrexham players putting in a fine performance.

Attention will now turn to their next fixture in the Championship on Friday night against Birmingham City, and Matty James has identified the next steps for the Welsh club.

Matty James believes a result against Birmingham City is ‘important’

The Wrexham midfielder was a steady operator in the middle of the pitch as they managed to nullify Leicester, with the Foxes only having one shot on target throughout the entire match.

This demonstrates how far the Red Dragons have come over the last two weeks, when defensive instability was a major concern around the club, but Parkinson has seemingly addressed this.

Speaking to the BBC, Matty James has now identified the next steps for Wrexham to continue their journey in the Championship.

He said: “It was always going to take a little bit of time.

“It’s completely normal to take time to come together as a team and because of how difficult the Championship actually is.

“But, little steps, we keep building on the performances.

“It’s probably our best result for us as a club to show the belief we have, to come and put in a performance like that.

“It’s important we now back that up against Birmingham.”

Phil Parkinson believes Wrexham are evolving and are a ‘good side’

Less than two weeks ago there were concerns about the direction that Wrexham were heading; now there is belief around the club that they have turned a corner.

Phil Parkinson’s defiant message after the Norwich City game has seemingly done the trick, as they have gone unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions.

He said: “We had belief anyway, but if we don’t have it after tonight, then there’s something wrong.

“We’ve shown we can compete with a very technical team. There’s always periods where they keep the ball, but we were happy for that because we felt we could counter and hurt them. I felt we had the quality to make something happen, and we did.

“They’re a good side, but so are we.

“I feel we’re definitely evolving as a team.

“I think tonight you saw the impact from the bench, which was really important for us.”
