Wrexham’s retained list revealed that eight players are leaving the club this summer, one of whom is in form striker Sam Dalby.
Wrexham released their retained list earlier this month. Phil Parkinson is letting eight players leave the club as free agents and fans have had plenty to say about who’s going.
The main talking point was Steven Fletcher: Wrexham fans think Fletcher should’ve stayed with the club for another year after scoring eight goals in 40 League One games last season.
Another striker on the list of released players was Sam Dalby. Wrexham offered Dalby a contract renewal last January but per the club’s retained list, Dalby rejected the offer and will now become a free agent.
The 25-year-old has scored 15 in 35 league games for Dundee United this season, playing a key role in the club securing a place in the Europa League qualification rounds for next season.

Sam Dalby open to Dundee United move with contract set to be tabled
An emerging report from The Courier has now revealed that Dundee United are set to table a contract offer to Dalby ahead of his Wrexham release this summer. The same report though adds that Dundee United ‘are far from the only interested party’ in the race for Dalby this summer.
And Dalby himself has spoken out on his future, admitting that he’d be open to staying with the club on a permanent basis. Asked whether or not European football could play a factor in him re-signing with Dundee United this summer, he told The Courier: “Of course.
“We’ve put so much effort into this season to get the club into European football next year. If it (a permanent move) does happen, that would be great. I’ve loved my time here. If it doesn’t, then it doesn’t. You never know what’s going to happen. I’ll probably rest up for a little bit and just let my agent do his stuff!”

Sam Dalby wins prestigious award amid prolific Dundee United form
The 2022 signing from Southend United never made it stick with Wrexham. He scored 13 goals in 91 total appearances for the club but has certainly found his footing north of the border with Dundee United.
After netting 15 goals in all competitions, Dalby was named Dundee United’s Player of the Season for 2024/25 and it’s a deserved award, and it’s understandable that both he and the club are keen to make his stay permanent.
With the Scottish top flight campaign now over and Dundee United in Europe for next season, Dalby signing a contract there might be a formality. Expect him and the club officials to take a summer break first, though, and reconvene in the coming weeks.
