Wrexham striker Paul Mullin must do one thing despite recent developments surrounding his future at the club.

Wrexham are gearing up for the 2025/26 Championship campaign, where they will hope to continue their momentum after their three previous promotions.

To achieve this, Wrexham have no room to be sentimental with their current crop of players, with some set to move on this summer.

Wrexham forward Paul Mullin’s future is undecided at the club. Whilst Wigan Athletic were initially linked, it now looks like they have set their sights on Sam Dalby.

This has left Mullin in limbo regarding his future, but the Wrexham forward has the ability to do one thing to keep his career alive.

Wrexham striker Paul Mullin must be proactive in searching for his next club

Mullin’s game time in the 2024/25 League One campaign was rather limited, and it would be expected that he would be even further down the pecking order in Phil Parkinson’s side, who will certainly bring in Championship-quality forwards to prepare for next season.

The last thing that Mullin needs for his career is to rot in the squad with very little promise of game time, so he must be proactive with finding his next club.

It is expected that Mullin would want to stay in the north west to be close to family, and a League One club could be willing to attain the Wrexham goalscorer, who at 30 years old, still has a few years left of decent level football in him.

The possible clubs that Paul Mullin could be touted to

The option that Mullin would likely be most keen on for this stage of his career is a move to a local League One side, which brings up several options for him to potentially explore.

In League One, several sides in the north west may be looking for a striker, including Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, or former Wrexham rivals Stockport County.

Even a move down to League Two wouldn’t be out of the realms of possibility, but you would expect that Wrexham would need to contribute financially to Mullin moving this far down. This would open up opportunities at Tranmere Rovers and Salford City, potentially, but knowing Mullin, it would be a surprise to see him drop down to League Two without exploring the options available in the third tier of English football.
