Wrexham are saying goodbye to a number of players this summer, in a transfer window that promises plenty of change at the club.
Ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season, Wrexham are releasing eight players in a bid to streamline their squad, before Phil Parkinson bolsters it with some Championship-quality players for the new season.
Already it’s been reported that Parkinson wants to sign Championship players this summer, in a bid to give his side the experience they need to be able to compete in the second tier next time round.
To do that, Parkinson will need to make some space in the squad, hence the release of eight players and hence recent reports that Parkinson wants to sell some Wrexham players as well, with several candidates seemingly up for sale.
Among those leaving this summer is Sam Dalby. The striker rejected a contract offer from the Dragons and will now leave the Racecourse as a free agent this summer, with the 25-year-old looking set to have a number of options.

Wrexham players say goodbye to Sam Dalby
On Friday, the Dundee United Player of the Season posted on Instagram. Dalby appeared to say goodbye to Dundee United despite widespread rumours and expectation that he’d join the club on a permanent basis this summer, especially after his 15 goals fired the club to a spot in next season’s Europa League.
And as he bid goodbye to the Scottish club and to Wrexham as well, a number of Wrexham players chipped in with messages of goodbye for the frontman, who joined Wrexham in 2022 and went on to score 13 times in 91 total games.
Ryan Barnett commented ‘Bella ciao’ on Dalby’s post. Seb Revan weighed in with some fire emojis and Jacob Mendy with heart emojis. Max Cleworth meanwhile replied with ‘What a player’.

What next for Sam Dalby ahead of Wrexham exit?
Speaking recently, Dalby said he’ll let his agent do the talking with regards to his next move, whilst not ruling out the possibility of joining Dundee United on a permanent deal, although his latest goodbye appears to have closed the door on that front.
Elsewhere, reports have stated that Wigan Athletic are in the race to sign Dalby this summer. The Latics are also keen to sign Paul Mullin who looks set to be sold this summer.
But subsequent reports have claimed that an unnamed north west League One club are in pole position to sign Dalby this summer. Although there’s no confirmation who it is, it seems likely to be Blackpool, who have been linked with Dalby recently.
Wherever he ends up, he’ll go on there on the back of a good season, which could really get this new chapter off to a positive start.
