Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds have a bright vision for the future of Wrexham, which looks set to entail outside investment later down the line.
There’s been a lot of talk about Wrexham potentially selling a stake or attracting more investment following promotion to the Championship.
This summer in fact, reports had claimed that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac wanted to sell a stake in Wrexham worth £350million.
It’s a huge statement of their intent and yet another reminder of how far the club has come under their ownership. And one man quickly emerged as a potential investment in Turki Al-Sheikh.
Reports emerged revealing that Al-Sheikh wanted to invest in an English football club, but it has since been revealed that Al-Sheikh is closing in on a Bristol City takeover instead, ending Wrexham’s hopes of his investment.

Wrexham’s plan for mega-money investment is still intact
Whilst Al-Sheikh heading to Bristol City seems like a blow on the surface, it’s potentially all part of Wrexham’s plan as Humphrey Ker previously revealed that the owners would rather bring in an outside, billionaire investor later down the line anyway, if and when promotion to the Premier League is achieved.
Speaking this summer, Ker gave his verdict on potential investors at Wrexham, saying: “I think it’s very possible [reaching the Premier League], but I think that if you know we build our training ground, and we build our stand and we renovate the stadium and we get ourselves up to like we’ve got a 20,000-seat modernish stadium that retains the charm, and we can make that jump.
“Then I think what happens is that Rob and Ryan go into their Rolodex and call up one of the dozens and dozens of people who’ve got in touch within the last four years and been like ‘hi I’m a multi, multi, multi billionaire, I want to join in on this with you’.”

Wrexham need three things to happen before the big money rolls in
Ker’s previous comments seem to suggest the long-term plan at Wrexham: obviously reaching the Premier League, whilst revamping the training facilities and the stadium to get Wrexham more up to speed with their competitors.
Wrexham have plans to build an 18,000-seater stadium which will be bigger than a couple of Premier League grounds even, in Brentford and Bournemouth, and the stadium renovations have taken precedence over the training ground for the time being.
Elsewhere, Wrexham are placing more focus on the youth academy and on producing more players which Phil Parkinson says will be crucial for the long-term sustainability of the club.
When those things come together, Wrexham will stand a better chance of promotion to the Premier League, unless they can surprise everyone once again and earn it in the next year or two.
After all of that, then we might see the big money really start coming in.
