Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson could be on the verge of leaving the club, after a slow start to the 2025/26 season.
Phil Parkinson has worked wonders at Wrexham. The experienced manager has taken the club from the National League to the Championship in just a few years, cementing his name in the club’s history books.
But after a 3-1 defeat against QPR last time out, it has been revealed that Wrexham are considering Parkinson’s future at the club.
Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac could have to make a tough decision on the matter if they want to stay in the Championship, after Wrexham spent more than £30million on new players this summer.

The winners if Wrexham sack Phil Parkinson
Elliot Lee
Elliot Lee is now looking like he faces a long wait to January. The midfielder is yet to feature in the league this season and he wasn’t even in the squad for the game against QPR last time out.
During the summer, there were reports that Wrexham were open to selling Lee. He remains, of course, and if Parkinson leaves then it would be a chance for him to potentially get back into the fold under a new manager.
Paul Mullin
Wrexham favourite Paul Mullin was completely exiled by Parkinson last season. Parkinson explained why he dropped Mullin from the Wrexham side and he said it was because of new signings, but with striker options still thin on the ground, Mullin could well have done a job for the Dragons this season.
Parkinson leaving may still mean that Mullin never plays for the club again, but a new manager would no doubt want to revaluate next summer, with Mullin still under contract until 2027.

The losers if Wrexham sack Phil Parkinson
Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac
For Reynolds and Mac, sacking Parkinson might prove to be the toughest decision they ever make at the club. They both owe so much to Parkinson, but at the same time, the end goal remains the Premier League, and there are huge reservations over whether or not Parkinson can get them there.
In the long run, sacking Parkinson sooner rather than later might prove to be a good decision. But in the short-term, it could be a very painful process for the owners.
Conor Coady
Conor Coady moved to the Racecourse this summer and he’s since slotted straight into the heart of defence. But Dom Hyam also arrived this summer, signing on deadline day but being an unused substitute in the game against QPR.
Many Wrexham fans were critical of Coady’s performance against QPR, in particular his lack of pace. If there’s a change in manager then Coady could be one who a new manager might look at, and think there are better options available.
Phil Parkinson
Of course, Parkinson would be the big loser in all of this. He’s had his critics over the years and even at Wrexham, there have been many who believe that his success comes purely from the club’s spending on players.
And having not enjoyed great success in the Championship earlier in his career, Parkinson will be gutted if he fails at Championship level once again.
