Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac may have gone over the top with one blockbuster Red Dragons signing as one unwanted figure appears.
The Red Dragons’ summer transfer window has now concluded, with the Wrexham squad vastly changing through the short period ahead of the Championship season.
Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds made it clear that he wanted to adopt an ‘aggressive’ transfer stance, bringing in the players that Phil Parkinson needs, and that is exactly what he has managed to do.
With a total of 14 new arrivals at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham have managed to be very shrewd with their signings, having brought in a crop of Championship-proven talent for fair prices.
However, they have been told that they may have vastly overpaid for one Red Dragons star, whose value appears far below how much he was signed for.

Wrexham may have overpaid for Callum Doyle as true value emerges
Via Football Observatory, which outlines the ‘fair price’ for players, it suggests that Wrexham signing Callum Doyle’s value is between £4.16m to £4.86m.
This is vastly lower than the reported £7.5m fee that Wrexham splashed out on the Man City defender, which suggests that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac may have been fleeced by the Premier League giants.
When discussing the arrival of Doyle, Phil Parkinson said: ”I think it is a statement of intent that we’ve won his signature over some established Championship clubs, who’ve been in the division and Premier League recently, and clubs in other European leagues.”
Wrexham’s ability to strike a deal for Doyle, with the fee rising to £7.5m, may have only been possible by the Red Dragons outbidding the other clubs who were keen on the Man City youngster, as Parkinson says.

Phil Parkinson has the financial ability to pay over the odds
Unlike the majority of Wrexham’s Championship rivals, they have the ability and financial freedom to bring more players through the door in the transfer window.
This comes down to previous years of spending very little, combined with a massive revenue stream that the Red Dragons have sourced since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac took over at Wrexham.
Reynolds and Mac’s involvement at the club has provided many opportunities for the club to develop and thrive, and that has given them the chance to build a Championship-ready squad, which, under the stewardship of Phil Parkinson, will hopefully finish in the higher echelons of the Championship table.
