Wrexham’s summer transfer window could prove to be a hindrance for three Red Dragons players, who could be made surplus to requirements following the flurry of activity from Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

The Red Dragons have recruited heavily in the summer transfer window, with Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac financially backing the manager.

Phil Parkinson made it clear that signings were paramount this summer, which is why Reynolds let the club adopt an ‘aggressive’ approach to signings, with Wrexham prioritising the recruitment of proven Championship talent.

In total, Wrexham have added 14 recruits to their side, many of whom are expected to start for Parkinson’s side.

Of course, this has the knock-on effect of some of the more familiar faces in Wrexham, who may be doubting their importance to the team following the window.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson could axe Lewis Brunt in favour of Callum Doyle

One area of the pitch which saw Phil Parkinson go on a recruitment drive was at centre-back.

Conor Coady and Dom Hyam have joined Wrexham, while Callum Doyle also signed from Man City for £5m.

The wealth of options available to Parkinson at centre-back will have its drawbacks for some, while Eoghan O’Connell has already moved on, there is every chance that Lewis Brunt could also be left to the side in favour of the new arrivals.

Brunt started Wrexham’s first three games of the season, but then found himself on the bench for the win against Millwall, with Doyle being favoured by Parkinson.

It is expected that Parkinson will continue to utilise the former Man City man, leaving Brunt with uncertainties over his game time.

Matty James’ position could be at risk after Ben Sheaf arrival

Wrexham also manage a late move for midfielders, having brought in Ben Sheaf on a permanent deal from Coventry City with a fee worth £6.5m.

Because of the talent that Sheaf possesses, paired with the hefty fee that Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac splashed out on him, there will be an expectation that he will be thrown into the starting side.

This could lead to Matty James being dropped to the bench, which, after the part he played in Wrexham’s win against Millwall, would be very harsh.

Issa Kabore signing could leave Ryan Barnett surplus to requirements

Wrexham also made the deadline day signing of Issa Kabore on loan from Man City, who boasts Premier League and European experience.

Of course, the right-wing back’s arrival looks set to hamper Ryan Barnett’s chances of first-team football.

With Ryan Longman ahead of him in the pecking order, and now, likely, Kabore, Championship minutes could be limited for Barnett.

It is likely that Kabore, as well as Callum Doyle and Ben Sheaf will start next time out for Wrexham against QPR, with Parkinson keen to utilise the players who cost the club an accumulative £11.5m.
