Ryan Reynolds has been an excellent owner for Wrexham since he bought the club alongside Rob McElhenney.

While Rob McElhenney was the driving force behind the purchase of Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds has also proven himself to be a fantastic asset for the club.

The Red Dragons’ rise under the American duo has been nothing short of remarkable.

Going from the depths of the National League to battling it out at the top end of League One in just a few seasons is very impressive and the Wrexham owners deserve a lot of credit.

McElhenney and Reynolds paid £2million for Wrexham in 2021, an investment that already looks to have paid off.

The club’s profile has grown massively and their success off the field has seen Wrexham inspire Lionel Messi and many more big names.

Now, Reynolds’ latest venture could bring the club even more success over the coming years.

Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds investing in La Equidad

Reynolds received a major Canadian honour this week, being recognised for ‘his far-reaching philanthropy’.

The actor, best known for his role in Deadpool, continues to be heavily involved in football as well and made a big decision this month.

Reynolds will invest in another football club, with it reported that the 48-year-old is part of the consortium on the verge of purchasing Colombian side La Equidad.

The official signing of the paperwork is expected to take place on December 19th, with the total cost of the deal said to be just shy of $20m – how much Reynolds is investing remains to be seen.

How Wrexham can benefit from Ryan Reynolds investment

At first glance, Wrexham fans are probably not that excited about Reynolds getting involved in another club.

However, his impending role with La Equidad could stand to serve Phil Parkinson and co. very well.

A lot of the top teams in England have what are commonly known as feeder clubs, which they utilise to loan and develop players.

The Red Dragons currently don’t have any such agreement but this deal with La Equidad could allow the Welsh outfit to start sending some of their less-used stars out on loan.

Parkinson suggested some Wrexham players will leave in January amid a lack of playing time in the senior side.

The likes of Aaron James, Harry Ashfield, and Josh Adam could also benefit massively from temporary moves in order to garner more first-team action, with La Equidad now potentially the perfect destination amid Reynolds getting involved.
