‘Dangerous’ Wrexham star surely eyeing January transfer exit after what Phil Parkinson just said

Phil Parkinson has shared an insight into Wrexham’s January transfer plans recently.

Wrexham recruited well over the summer and have since further strengthened their squad in the last few months.

The Red Dragons made nine new signings in the most recent transfer window with three more players having since arrived as free agents.

Wrexham signed Brad Foster following an injury to Callum Burton and he was excellent in his debut versus Crewe Alexandra last week.

But with January now just a few weeks away, attention has turned toward the permanent and loan market.

Wrexham want to sign a centre-forward in January and would prefer a player with experience at a higher level than League One.

While fans are no doubt primarily focused on incomings at the Racecourse Ground, there could be some exits in the coming month as well.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson on January transfer window

Speaking recently, Phil Parkinson was asked about Wrexham’s January transfer window and had an interesting response.

His comments on loan players has opened the door for Sam Dalby to return to Wrexham in the winter window.

Elsewhere, he also suggested that some players could be moved on amid a lack of playing time in 2024/25 so far.

Parkison said: “We’ve got other players who’ve been out the frame and may want to go so there’s a lot of decisions to be made.

“My job is to to sit down with everybody and make sure we make the right ones and keep the momentum we’ve got.”

Jacob Mendy surely eyeing Wrexham transfer exit

One player who really should be eyeing a January move after the 57-year-old’s comments is Jacob Mendy.

The left-back joined the Welsh side from Boreham Wood in August 2022 for an undisclosed fee.

Mendy has been hailed as ‘dangerous’ by Parkinson and has made 73 appearances for Wrexham, scoring six goals and providing five assists.

But his game time has been dramatically reduced this season and despite Sebastian Revan underperforming since his summer transfer from Aston Villa, Mendy has now been relegated to third-choice left-back behind James McClean and Revan.

He has made three EFL Trophy appearances but has notched a worryingly low 21 minutes of League One action.

Now 27, Mendy should be in the prime of his playing career and may well be considering a Wrexham exit after falling so far down the pecking order this term.
