Wrexham had a largely productive summer transfer window but one deal is dangerously close to becoming a real failure.
Wrexham made eight senior signings during the 2024 summer transfer window, the majority of which have fared pretty well.
George Dobson was immense against Stevenage despite the squad as a whole playing awful in the shocking 3-2 defeat.
OIllie Rathbone, following a somewhat slow start to life in Wales, has now become one of the club’s best players, excelling in the centre of the park while providing a real goal threat.
Like Rathbone, Lewis Brunt is now so important to Wrexham despite being out of favour after first signing.
One star Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds paid big money for over the summer, however, just hasn’t lived up to the hype.

Wrexham summer signing in danger of becoming a flop
The player in question is Dan Scarr, who Wrexham paid Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle around £300,000 for in the summer, according to Transfermarkt.
Scarr played a major role in The Greens avoiding relegation from the second tier in 2023/24 and was arguably one of their best players behind Morgan Whittaker.
In turn, it seemed obvious that he would become a real leader for the Red Dragons and slot instantly into the eleven.
However, Scarr has expressed frustration at his Wrexham playing time on more than one occasion this season.
The centre-back recently spent 11 games left on the bench in League One before returning to the side against Birmingham City.
Scarr was ‘rusty’ on his Wrexham return but Phil Parkinson was urged to keep faith in him against Stevenage, which he did.

Dan Scarr needs to be dropped for Crawley Town vs Wrexham
However, while not completely to blame for their 22-game unbeaten streak at home coming to an end, the stopper was subpar on Tuesday.
It may be down to his lack of playing time in recent months but given their position in the table, Parkinson simply can’t afford to keep starting Scarr and hope he finds form in the coming weeks when it may already be too late.
As a result, with Brunt back fit, he should come back into the starting lineup this week when Wrexham travel to Crawley Town.
It does mean, however, there are likely to be very few chances left for Scarr to prove himself in 2024/25 and if his form doesn’t improve soon, there’s a possibility he could end up going down as a flop at Wrexham.
The EFL Trophy meeting with Port Vale could well be the 30-yer-old’s final chance to show he can offer something to the club but right now, it has even been mooted that an out-of-form Eoghan O’Connell should be starting ahead of him.
