Wrexham have completed their first signing of the January window, but a few players could lose out after Ryan Longman’s arrival.
Wrexham have signed Ryan Longman from Hull City in a £500,000 deal, making him their joint-second most expensive signing along with Ollie Rathbone.
The versatile midfielder has put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season with the option of a further year.
Wrexham fans are pleased at the Longman transfer, believing he will provide some much-needed pace to their attack.
He can play as a winger, wing-back and centre-forward, offering Phil Parkinson a lot of options in the second half of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Hull fans had a mixed reaction to Longman joining Wrexham, but most wished him well.
Now his move has been official, we have taken a look at the biggest winners and losers from the transfer.

The two winners from Wrexham signing Ryan Longman
Wrexham had to wait a while but with over three weeks of the transfer window gone, Phil Parkinson has finally got himself a signing.
The manager is clearly the biggest winner from the move as he’s been in desperate need of reinforcements this month.
The Red Dragons remain in with a chance of securing automatic promotion this term but with all their rivals already strengthening, it was imperative Wrexham responded.
They have done exactly that with big money – by their standards anyway – spent on the now-former Hull man.
The second winner from the deal is, of course, the Wrexham faithful. Their club’s attack has been pretty lackluster this term but the addition of Longman should add some much-needed pace and creativity going forward.

The four losers from Ryan Longman joining Wrexham
On a less positive note, four Wrexham players are likely to see their game time reduced going forward.
As already mentioned, Longman is incredibly versatile and will most likely be competing for a starting berth at wing-back or up top.
He’s unlikely to start ahead of James McClean or Ryan Barnett on a regular basis, but he should now be ahead of Jacob Mendy at left-wing-back and both Sebastian Revan and Luke Bolton on the other side of the back-five.
Meanwhile, though Longman probably won’t see too much action as a striker, the dismal form of Paul Mullin, coupled with Jack Marriott’s return means the former has now likely dropped down to the sixth-choice centre-forward option behind Ollie Palmer, Elliot Lee, Marriott, Steven Fletcher, and Longman.
