Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are prepared to significantly back Phil Parkinson this summer, and three available forwards could be exactly what he requires.

Wrexham are ready to stretch their arms in the summer transfer window, showing a clear desire to bolster their squad.

The Australia and New Zealand pre-season tour has shown that Wrexham are in need of extra bodies through the door, particularly in the striker department.

Phil Parkinson has been critical of his forwards in pre-season, and his calls have been answered by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, who have handed the Wrexham boss a £10m war chest to spend on a forward this summer.

As a result, we looked at three ambitious targets that Wrexham could sign with the American owners’ transfer budget…

Wrexham could target Richard Kone this summer

In the 2024/25 League One season, Richard Kone was the shining light of the division, picking up both the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.

Starring up front for play-off finishers Wycombe Wanderers, the 22-year-old notched 18 goals in 41 appearances, equal to the tally that Sam Smith managed across his spells at Reading and Wrexham last season.

After Wycombe failed to reach the Championship via the play-offs, Kone could easily carve an exit from the Chairboys to play in the Championship.

A fee in the region of £5m could easily entice Wycombe into a deal, leaving Phil Parkinson with extra cash to splash.

Sam Greenwood could help fix Phil Parkinson’s forward woes

Like Richard Kone, Sam Greenwood will likely wish to move to a Championship club this season, but he would be looking to make the drop down from the Premier League.

The Leeds United striker is unable to be part of Daniel Farke’s plans this season, just like Wrexham target Patrick Bamford

Having spent last season on loan at Preston North End, Greenwood bagged five goals, whilst also picking up three assists in 38 games – respectable numbers for a 23-year-old continuing to improve.

A £5m fee could also be enough to attain Greenwood due to his limited future at Leeds, with the Premier League club likely to be keen to dispense of the Sunderland-born forward.

Wrexham could show vast ambition by signing Hwang Hee-Chan

Arguably the most ambitious signing of the lot, Wrexham could potentially strike a deal to bring in proven Premier League talent Hwang Hee-Chan from Wolves.

The 29-year-old South Korean international has over 100 Premier League appearances to his name, on top of experience in the Champions League and Europa League, where he notably scored against Liverpool back in 2019 for RB Salzburg.

However, Hwang fell out of favour last season, starting only five games in a campaign that was somewhat plagued with injuries and uncertainty.

Wrexham would have to use a sizeable amount of the £10m available to Phil Parkinson to sign Hwang, but with the pedigree he would bring, it is surely worth a gamble.
