Wrexham have had a pretty impressive summer transfer window, breaking numerous records in the process.

When the window drew to a close on Monday evening, Wrexham had spent £33m on 13 new players.

When Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac arrived four and a half years ago, the Dragons went on to break their transfer record for the first time under their ownership, paying £300,000 for Ollie Palmer.

In 2025, meanwhile, the Welsh powerhouse have gone on to sign multiple players for seven-figure fees.

Nathan Broadhead has become the club’s latest record transfer, costing £7.5m, rising to £10m with add-ons.

However, it is not the former Ipswich Town man who has caught the eye of one pundit.

Ben Sheaf and Dom Hyam named as key Wrexham signings

Wrexham paid £6.5m for Ben Sheaf of Coventry City on transfer deadline day.

Later on Monday, Dom Hyam arrived in a £2.7m move from Blackburn Rovers.

Now, BBC’s Chris Wathan has been asked to name who he thinks will be the key signing for Wrexham this season.

But he did not pick just one name; instead, praising the additions of both Sheaf and Hyam.

He said: “I really like Ben Sheaf, I think that’s a really clever signing. Likewise, Dom Hyam.

“These are players, top-end Championship players, which is where the level Wrexham want to get to, so they’re almost buying above themselves, which has been their policy throughout.

“But they’re also ready-made players. They’re players who know that division inside and out. The number of games that they’ve played, they’re of the right age not to have development, they’re not teetering over the edge either. They can hit the ground running. I really like those two sensible signings.”

Every player Wrexham signed in summer 2025

Like Sheaf and Hyam, a number of Wrexham’s 2025 summer signings have brought a wealth of Championship experience to the club.

Kieffer Moore is the second-best transfer in the division, according to one group of pundits.

Meanwhile, the likes of Conor Coady and Lewis O’Brien have featured in the Premier League previously.

Wrexham could spend £10m in January if they wish to add more signings to their ranks this winter.
