Wigan Athletic
Wigan are a team that will be looking to push on next season and compete at the top end of the division after having struggled during this campaign.
Wrexham’s next opponents are currently languishing in 18th position and still require a win or two to be completely sure of survival.
However, Ryan Lowe was recently appointed their new manager and whilst solidity in defence has not been a problem for the Latics, scoring goals has with just 35 to their name all season.
Wigan are the lowest scorers in the division therefore, a move for a man with over 100 goals in the last four seasons would be a welcome boost for their summer transfer plans.
Rotherham United
Rotherham recently sacked Steve Evans after a poor run of results has left the club in mid table and set to miss out on any play off aspirations.
Mullin poked fun at Evans after Wrexham’s victory over The Millers earlier in the season but with the departure of the out-spoken manager, Rotherham may become an attractive proposition.
For a club that would feel they belong in the Championship having had recent stints in the division, 47 goals is simply not going to be enough to earn promotion in any given season.
Sam Nombe is Rotherham’s current top scorer with 11 league goals but the next behind him is Jonson Clarke-Harris with seven.
Therefore, a move for someone with Mullin’s pedigree and his ability to play alongside a partner in a two-man attack could prove fruitful for Rotherham next season.
Cambridge United
A fairy tale return for the club where he really made his name? Mullin sent a heartfelt message before Wrexham’s recent clash with Cambridge expressing his disappointment at not being involved.
Cambridge played some excellent football in that 2-2 draw at the Abbey Stadium and under new manager Neil Harris, have an outside chance of making a great escape from trouble in League One.
Should they survive or even face the drop, Mullin would jump at the chance to return to a club where enjoyed so much success – 36 goals in 56 games.
Wages and transfer fee may be an issue should Cambridge drop into League Two but the 30-year-old would be welcomed with open arms and enjoy playing regular football once again.
