Ollie Palmer’s time at Wrexham could be coming to an end this summer, and with it comes the end of an era.

For a lot of newer Wrexham fans and those who watch from afar, there are no two players more synonymous with the club than Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin.

The duo arrived in Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s first full season as owners and fired them up from the National League, where they had been stuck for 15 years, to League One.

However, Phil Parkinson dropped Mullin and Palmer from the matchday squad in early 2025, with the former already leaving this summer to join Wigan Athletic on loan.

Meanwhile, it has emerged this month that Palmer has been told he can leave Wrexham in the current transfer window.

What Ollie Palmer said after signing Wrexham contract

Palmer did not play a League One fixture after January 28, 2025, and hasn’t featured in the Championship so far this season.

However, he did begin the 2024/25 campaign as a key player, starting alongside Jack Marriott up top while Mullin was injured.

He had a promising start to the season, and his good form saw Wrexham hand Palmer a new contract in October 2024.

The centre-forward commented on his new deal at the time, expressing his love for the club and how he was ‘looking forward’ to making more memories.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract. Wrexham has become a home away from home for me and my family and my kids love coming to Wrexham more than anything!

“The fans have been unbelievable with me since I walked through the door, and I’ve met some great people not just at the Club but outside of it too.

“We’ve made some great memories and I’m looking forward to making many more.”

Phil Parkinson’s stance on Ollie Palmer has become clear

The striker has made one appearance in 2025/26 so far, scoring twice after coming off the bench in the Carabao Cup.

Wrexham fans want Palmer to regain his spot in the Championship as they feel he’s the best alternative to Kieffer Moore in the ‘big man’ role now that Steven Fletcher has left.

However, even with Jay Rodriguez still injured and the striker basically winning the game against Hull, Parkinson still completely left him out of the matchday squad versus West Brom last weekend.

As a result, it’s become pretty clear that the Dragons boss does not see the 33-year-old in his future plans, despite some supporters being keen for him to stick around.
