Wrexham were eyeing League One promotion when they welcomed Charlton Athletic to the Racecourse on April 26.
Promotion out of the third tier was already within touching distance for the Red Dragons before a ball had even been kicked on Saturday.
This came after Wycombe Wanderers lost to Leyton Orient in a 12:30pm UK time fixture, seeing them left two points adrift of second having played a game more.
Following Wycombe’s defeat, Humphrey Ker sent a message to Wrexham, who were 90 minutes from making history.
As was to be expected, there were no changes from the eleven that beat Blackpool 2-1 earlier in the week.
Monday was arguably one of the club’s best performances for some time, and a similar display was needed to see off Charlton and clinch promotion.

Phil Parkinson should give Paul Mullin a rare Wrexham appearance
When all was said and done, Wrexham beat Charlton to book their place in the Championship for the first time ever.
It was a superb showing from the Red Dragons, who have made history by winning three promotions in a row.
They now have one more game to play out in the 2024/25 season, which comes against Lincoln City on May 3.
So, with nothing left to play for in that game, it would be very fitting for Phil Parkinson to hand Paul Mullin an appearance.
Mullin had transfer interest in the winter window, and after being left out of every matchday squad since January 28, the club icon deserves to have at least one more game in a Wrexham shirt, given what he has achieved since signing in the summer of 2021.

Why Paul Mullin hasn’t been playing for Wrexham
Mullin has scored over 100 goals for the Red Dragons since his transfer from Cambridge United.
But he last made an appearance at senior level all the way back on January 28 in a 3-2 defeat to Stevenage.
That game came just a few days before Wrexham signed Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
Both strikers have since started every league game under Parkinson, with Mullin falling down the pecking order to fifth or sixth-choice centre-forward.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 30-year-old, but given what he has done for the club over the years, he deserves at least one more outing to cap off another sensational season for Wrexham.
