Wrexham are preparing to welcome West Brom to the Racecourse Ground in their first home game of the Championship campaign.
Wrexham will be desperate to pick up their first points of the season and Phil Parkinson will be confident that his side can put on a show for the home supporters.
Whilst the season is now in full swing, the transfer window is still rumbling on until September 1st and the Red Dragons want to add further faces to their squad.
It has emerged that Wrexham are interested in Calum Chambers from Cardiff City in an attempt to further strengthen defensive options and Wrexham Insider has assessed the impact that Chambers would have on the current squad.

Winners from a potential Calum Chambers transfer to Wrexham
Conor Coady
Wrexham fans were impressed by Conor Coady during his debut performance against Southampton and the experienced defender looked right at home at the heart of the back three.
Coady made several crucial blocks and interceptions and was arguably Wrexham’s best player on the day despite only having played 90 minutes for the club before the Championship opener.
He has been brought in to be the leader of the defence but would welcome the arrival of Chambers to help share that burden.
Both players are England internationals and have played at the very highest level in football, they could form a formidable partnership at the back for the Red Dragons.
Phil Parkinson
Parkinson wants further additions to his Wrexham squad and defence is an area in which he wants to strengthen.
Aaron James was given a start in the EFL Cup meaning that Thomas O’Connor’s Wrexham future looks bleak, but Parkinson will want further strength in depth.
Picking up a player of Chambers’ quality would be a coup for the club and the 30-year-old brings with him a versatility to play in a number of positions.
Chambers is adept at playing all across the back three but has even played in a holding midfield role in his career and could be used as a back-up option to Matty James.

Losers from a potential Calum Chambers transfer to Wrexham
Lewis Brunt
Lewis Brunt would have been hoping to cement his place in the starting XI this season and produced an excellent performance in the opener at Southampton.
However, he is the player that would probably be most fearful of his starting place should a move for Chambers materialise.
Max Cleworth has earned a reputation as one of Wrexham’s key players and Coady has been brought in to lead the line from the centre of the back three.
Whilst Chambers is not left-footed, neither is Brunt and Parkinson may go with the more experienced Cardiff man.

Dan Scarr
Dan Scarr was given an opportunity to impress against Hull City in the EFL Cup and it is fair to say that he struggled to cope with the physicality and quality of Oli McBurnie.
Scarr was excellent for Wrexham at the back end of last season, however, there are doubts about his ability to step up to the second tier.
Chambers would surely knock Scarr further down the pecking order and after spending much of last season on the bench, he may start to consider his future at the club.
Eoghan O’Connell
Eoghan O’Connell is in a similar position to Scarr and again failed to fully convince that he is capable of making the step up in quality against Hull City.
Parkinson will want to have depth to his defensive options given that he plays a back three, but also has the 25-man squad rule to consider.
Would both O’Connell and Scarr survive in the squad should Chambers arrive? It is highly unlikely and both will be sweating over Parkinson’s plans.
