Wrexham are intent on bolstering midfield options this summer.
Tom Cairney was offered a contract by Wrexham but looks set to stay in the Premier League with Fulham, whilst the Red Dragons are also interested in Lewis O’Brien.
Wrexham have cooled interest in Lewis Travis as Phil Parkinson now has his sights set on an Australian international.
Wrexham are interested in Ryan Teague from A-League outfit Melbourne Victory and Wrexham Insider takes a look at the potential impact the signing could have on the current squad.

Winners from Ryan Teague’s transfer to Wrexham
Phil Parkinson
Parkinson is desperate for midfield options as he knows the middle of the park will be a key area in the club’s first season back in the Championship.
Andy Cannon’s long-term injury left the Red Dragons slightly short during the promotion run-in and had to use James McClean in an unfamiliar central role at times.
Teague is of international quality and brings an excellent blend of tenacity and quality on the ball, a player that suits the way Parkinson sets his team up.
Matty James
Matty James was outstanding for Wrexham as they navigated their way to League One promotion and now all eyes will be on whether he can replicate that form in the second tier.
Clubs didn’t want to sign James when he was available on a free transfer due to his age but the midfielder’s experience was vital during the crucial stages of last season.
Teague’s energy will be a perfect foil for James to sit in front of the back four and use his intelligence on and off the ball.

Sam Smith
Sam Smith has a big season ahead of him as he tries to prove doubters wrong that he can score goals in the second tier and make the step up in quality.
Smith made an outstanding impact on the Wrexham side last season after his January move and stood out with his work rate from the front.
Teague’s ability to get around the pitch and press high could present opportunities for Smith in front of goal and the Red Dragons win the ball back in dangerous areas.
Chances will be less frequent next season and therefore Smith will be keen to explore every avenue in creating them.
Losers from Ryan Teague’s transfer to Wrexham
George Dobson
George Dobson has never played in the Championship and will be hoping he can finally taste some action for the Red Dragons next season.
However, Teague is a very similar player to the 27-year-old and would provide stiff competition for a place in Parkinson’s midfield.
James and Ollie Rathbone’s places appear to be a little more cemented than Dobson’s and with Teague coming into the fold, that third central midfield role will be an intriguing decision.
Elliot Lee
Elliot Lee has loved his time at Wrexham however, there is a feeling that the midfielder could be one of the players to depart the Racecourse Ground this summer.
Lee found his opportunities more limited last campaign and with the arrival of Teague, he moves even further down the pecking order.
Should he find himself out of the squad during the opening games of the season, Lee will have to leave Wrexham in order to showcase his incredible talent elsewhere.
He would still be an excellent option for Parkinson to have around, the question is whether the player himself is happy to be a bit-part squad member.
