Wrexham need to improve their goal return if they are to keep place with their League One promotion rivals.
The Welsh side are firmly in the picture to secure automatic promotion this season and will remain third this weekend no matter what happens in the few games taking place.
But Wrexham’s League One rivals are strengthening in January already, with Huddersfield Town completing a £3m deal this week.
Meanwhile, the Red Dragons are still yet to make a signing during the 2025 winter transfer window.
Wrexham have been handed good Joe Gelhardt news this week but at present, no player looks close to signing.
A striker needs to be brought in and the majority of names linked have been number nines, while a free-agent addition could be a viable option to replace a struggling Paul Mullin.

Wrexham could utilise free-agent market to sign Paul Mullin replacement
Mullin has just two League One goals in over 1,000 minutes of football this season and his poor form is reflected in Wrexham’s lack of goals compared to the likes of Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City.
The 30-year-old has been an excellent servant for the club and will go down as one of their best-ever signings.
However, it’s become clear he really isn’t cut out for League One level. So, Phil Parkinson should instead dip into the free-agent market and bring Martyn Waghorn to the club.
Waghorn has had a long and impressive career with the likes of Leicester City, Derby County and Rangers, scoring 134 goals and providing 71 assists in 530 outings across all competitions.
He most recently lined out for Northampton Town but was only on a short-term deal until the end of December 2024 and is now a free agent yet again.

What Phil Parkinson has said about Martyn Waghorn
Despite now being 34, Waghorn has proven himself at League One level recently, scoring seven in 24 for Derby County in their 2023/24 promotion-winning season.
In comparison, Mullin has just two goals in 23 third-tier matches so far this term.
The Wrexham manager has a history with the ex-Derby man, coaching him during a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in 2008/09.
At the time, Parkinson praised Waghorn heavily, backing him for a good career and highlighting his ability.
He said: “His attitude alone will get him a good career in this game: not only has he got a good attitude and work ethic, he’s got great ability as well.”
