Wrexham player Harry Ashfield has a lot of fans excited for his future, having shown some real glimpses of quality so far this summer.
In pre-season and in the games we’ve seen him play so far this season, Wrexham academy man Harry Ashfield has certainly looked like the real deal.
In eight first-team games for Wrexham, the 19-year-old already has two goals to his name. Ashfield scored as Wrexham beat Preston in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season and he could feature against Reading on Tuesday night.
Ashfield is yet to feature in the Championship this season but has been an unused substitute on occasion.
Despite that, he’s clearly held in high regards by manager Phil Parkinson: there were reports that Wrexham were considering a loan exit for Ashfield, but he’s been kept at the Racecourse where he can now learn from quality midfield teammates like Ben Sheaf and Lewis O’Brien.

Harry Ashfield really needs a new Wrexham contract as salary revealed
Capology have updated their database with the latest Wrexham salaries and weekly wages. Whilst it should definitely be taken with a pinch of salt, it’s a good indicator as to how much, roughly, each player earns at different clubs. But Ashfield is earning very little compared to some of his teammates in North Wales.
Per Capology, Ashfield earns £900-per-week. That makes him the second lowest-paid first-team player along with Aaron James and Max Purvis in last. Not only that, but Ashfield is only under contract at Wrexham for another two years.
Being such an exciting young player, and one of the few academy prospects to break through in recent years, Parkinson and co must consider a long-term contract for the midfielder, and possibly a loan exit in January if he’s still not playing all that much.

Who is Wrexham’s highest-paid player this season?
Going into the summer, it was clear that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac were going to spend big. Reports claimed that Wrexham were ready to pay up to £30,000-a-week in wages and that’s exactly what they’ve done for Kieffer Moore.
Wrexham’s highest-paid player is indeed Moore who has so far proved his worth with five goals in all competitions for the Dragons, including four in the Championship making him the club’s top scorer right now.
In terms of wages, he’s closely followed by Conor Coady on £25,000-a-week, and the exiled Jay Rodriguez on the same amount; the former England striker isn’t even in Parkinson’s 25-man Championship team for the first half of the season.
