Wrexham are already making plans for the opening of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took over in 2021, the Red Dragons have been no strangers to signing big names.

Wrexham broke their transfer record earlier this year when they landed Sam Smith from Reading after he hit 11 goals in League One in the first half of the season.

Now though, even with 2024/25 still not over, attention is already turning to what the club will do in the winter transfer market.

Wrexham have been tipped to sign Jamie Vardy amid his contract with the soon-to-be relegated Leicester City expiring in June.

But Vardy is not the only potential free agent the Welsh outfit have been linked with going into the latest summer window.

Wrexham target Tom Lawrence left out by Rangers again

It emerged earlier this month that Wrexham want to sign Tom Lawrence on a free transfer when his current contract with Rangers expires on June 30th, 2025.

A deal for the attacking midfielder would prove Humphrey Ker’s multimillion-pound prediction right if pulled off.

We learned recently that Lawrence is flattered by Wrexham’s interest, seemingly opening the door for a move.

And now, another recent development has surely given the Welsh side a boost in their pursuit of signing the Rangers ace.

Wrexham like the player, and Lawrence seems open to the prospect of a move. But what about Rangers?

Well, while losing a player for free is never an ideal situation to be in, it does look as though the 31-year-old is becoming surplus to requirements.

He has been completely omitted from Rangers’ last two league matchday squads and only played a total of 23 minutes across the previous two outings.

Most recently, the Scottish giants were in Europa League action against Athletic Bilbao but Lawrence did not make the eleven or bench under interim boss, Barry Ferguson.

If the Wrexham-born star continues to be left out in the closing stages of the campaign, that will surely mean there is no chance he pens fresh terms.

Tom Lawrence will solve Wrexham problem

Wrexham fans will no doubt be eager to see Lawrence, or a similar player, arrive at the Racecourse Ground this season.

The Hollywood-owned club have a well-stocked squad overall but are particularly light in the number-10 department.

Right now, Elliot Lee is Parkinson’s only creative midfielder and when he’s not playing, Wrexham suffer.

Ollie Rathbone and George Dobson are both quality options, but just don’t quite offer as much going forward as Lee.

However, despite his very limited role for Rangers this term, Lawrence still has four goals and two assists in 15 league appearances when playing as an advanced midfielder.
