Wrexham fans swarm social media with Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer message – one thing is clear

Wrexham fans have made their feelings on Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer very clear after their meeting with Bristol Rovers.

Wrexham drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers on Friday afternoon, dealing their promotion hopes a blow.

Just two weeks ago, the Red Dragons were sitting second in League One with a six-point lead over third-place Wycombe Wanderers.

However, after back-to-back draws, Wycombe have now overtaken the Red Dragons going into Monday’s action.

Wrexham fans were unhappy with Phil Parkinson following his team selection on April 18, having a real issue with one man.

Jay Rodriguez was slammed vs Bristol Rovers – not the first time the striker has been criticised since his arrival in the winter.

And it has become clear that Wrexham fans are desperate to see Rodriguez dropped in place of their club’s icons.

Wrexham fans want Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer back

Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer have been out of action in League One since a 3-2 loss to Stevenage in January.

The pair are not injured but are no longer being selected for matchday squads in the league.

Now, after another limp attacking showing against a much weaker team, fans have taken to social media to ask why neither Mullin nor Palmer are getting any minutes, while also taking aim at Rodriguez.

One fan wrote: “Does he say why he doesn’t play fully activated Wrexham legends Mullin and Palmer, in place of £15K a week J Rodriguez? Probably not. Never been a fan of Parky, and he gets harder to love every game – puts his unjustifiable team selections above common good sense.”

A second simply demanded: “Mullin and Palmer now.”

“Mullin and Palmer need to be back in the line-up!” stated a third Wrexham supporter.

A fourth Red Dragons fan suggested: “Maybe it’s time to suck up some pride and bring Mullin and Palmer back in.”

Another asked: “Who is doing the interviewing? @MattWaters02 Is it impossible to ask him why he continues with JRod and leaves Mullin and Palmer out of the squad? That is what fans won’t to know. Too many leading questions, no probing ones. @faulkner180 Communication is key here?

A sixth claimed: “Rodriquez is possibly Parky’s worst signing. Please tell me what he brings to the team that Palmer or Mullin don’t!!”

And a seventh wrote: No one can convince me that Palmer or Mullin aren’t better options than what we’ve seen the last few games.”

What Phil Parkinson has said about Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer

Initially, it made some sense that both Mullin and Palmer had their game time reduced this season.

Neither player was in prolific form, and giving Wrexham’s two winter striker signings a more prominent role was logical.

However, with Rodriguez continuing to flounder, it is becoming more and more puzzling that the duo can’t even make the bench in matches anymore.

Why this is remains to be seen, with Parkinson commenting on Mullin and Palmer and their sudden axe from the squad last month.

He said: “The lads out of the team like Mulls and Ollie, who have both made significant contributions for us, they’re right with the group training hard every day and waiting for the moment because you never know when that moment is going to come, and you’ve got to be prepared for it as Lewis Brunt was at the weekend.”

Even though Parkinson’s comments suggested the door was still open for them to return, we now have just three games of the season left to play, and there have been no signs we will see Mullin or Palmer again.
