How Ryan Reynolds reacted to award-winning Paul Mullin Wrexham goal, it could be one of his last for club

Paul Mullin endured a difficult 2024/25 season at Wrexham, but one moment of magic earned the striker plenty of plaudits.

2024/25 began with Paul Mullin on the sidelines due to injury, seeing Ollie Palmer and Jack Marriott leading the line early on.

Mullin returned and scored a 16-second goal versus Rotherham United, but the 30-year-old had a tough time finding the back of the net throughout the previous campaign.

This saw Phil Parkinson look for striker reinforcements in the 2025 January transfer window, adding Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez to his squad.

After their arrivals, both Ollie Palmer and Mullin were axed from the League One team for the remainder of the season, just over a month after the latter scored a brilliant goal.

Paul Mullin goal earned praise from Ryan Reynolds.

Last season’s Boxing Day fixtures pitted Wrexham against Blackpool at the Racecourse Ground.

Ashley Fletcher put the visitors 1-0 up after just three minutes of action before Mullin fired the Dragons back on level terms.

Steven Fletcher went on to score a penalty in the second half, handing the Welsh powerhouse the three points.

It was not Fletcher’s winner that earned plaudits on the day, however, with Ryan Reynolds praising Mullin’s goal.

Reynolds wrote: “This one. So pretty…” after posting a video of the effort on his Instagram.

It was a stunning strike that, come the end of 2024/25, landed Mullin the Wrexham Goal of the Season award.

Last goal Paul Mullin scored for Wrexham

In late March 2025, Mullin scored in a Wrexham reserves clash, but his last competitive goal for the club came some time before that.

After Smith and Rodriguez signed, the forward did not play another league game after January 28.

That match was against Stevenage, and Mullin got on the scoresheet in a 3-2 defeat.

He has now joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2025/26 season, and it seems unlikely he will ever line out, never mind score, for Wrexham again.
