One player whose arrival Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac announced in a brilliant video has now left Wrexham, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half-year stay in North Wales.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has made wholesale changes to the Red Dragons squad this summer, making several signings, while also letting go of many familiar faces.

Both Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer have left the club, with the latter’s move being permanent.

On top of that, Elliot Lee has not left the club, but his future at Wrexham looks limited with Parkinson bringing in a number of players who are now ahead of the Red Dragons hero in the pecking order.

Departures have come thick and fast at the Racecourse Ground, and the latest has seen one player leave who was immediately a fan favourite after how Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac introduced him to the club.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac once announced Eoghan O’Connell’s Wrexham arrival in a hilarious video

It has been confirmed by the club that Eoghan O’Connell has departed Wrexham.

The centre-back played an integral role in the last three seasons, joining halfway through the promotion-winning National League season, and going on to notch 91 appearances for the club.

Following his departure from North Wales, it is a perfect time to reflect on the tenure of the Irishman, who was announced in creative fashion by Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Both Rob and Ryan made a joint video announcement following his arrival, but the latter had some trouble with O’Connell’s first name, before Rob swooped in to help him with the pronunciation.

Ryan Reynolds will be gutted to see Eoghan O’Connell leave

Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds has been many of the players’ biggest cheerleader during his time at the club, and that was no different with Eoghan O’Connell.

Reynolds said O’Connell is an underrated Wrexham player, saying: “Eoghan O’Connell, boy, that guy has got it.”

The amount of players from the National League days continue to deplete, which makes it feel as though it is the end of an era at Wrexham.

O’Connell is one of many players who gave their all for Wrexham, and that will be remembered fondly in the years to come.
