Wrexham are closing in on further signings ahead of the new Championship campaign.
Wrexham face Groningen in their final pre-season friendly before travelling to Southampton in their first second-tier fixture for 43 years.
Phil Parkinson’s side were disappointing during their tour down under and defeats to Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix sparked the club into action in the transfer market.
Lewis O’Brien broke Wrexham’s transfer record in a move from Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest and the club are set to eclipse that with the capture of Nathan Broadhead. Another crucial signing has also just passed a medical at the club.

Conor Coady passes Wrexham medical ahead of £2m transfer from Leicester
Parkinson has been ‘obsessed’ with strikers during recent transfer windows but is now set to bolster his defensive options in what could prove to be his best signing of the summer.
Wrexham were close to an agreement for Conor Coady from Leicester City and it now appears that a £2m deal has been secured with news that the former England international has passed a medical in North Wales.
Coady is set to sign a two-year contract at the club and brings a wealth of both Premier League and Championship experience to the club.
With ten England caps to his name, the Liverpool academy graduate has played at the very highest level and will provide guidance to the likes of Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt throughout the campaign.
Conor Coady’s leadership has been praised by Steve Holland
Coady will bring leadership to the Wrexham dressing room and his attitude both on and off the pitch is known to be impeccable around the footballing world.
The 32-year-old is a real scholar of the game and enjoys the tactical side of the game as well as motivating his teammates.
As per BBC Sport, former England assistant boss Steve Holland once labelled Coady as ‘England’s player of the tournament’ at the 2021 European Championships despite not playing a minute.
Holland stated: “In the dressing room before the game, he speaks like he’s captain, despite the fact that he’s not been on the pitch yet – which is incredibly difficult to do.”
Parkinson will love having that extra voice in the dressing room this season and Coady will know how to keep his teammates level-headed through inevitable highs and lows of the upcoming campaign.
