Wrexham are not done in the transfer market yet despite smashing their club record for a third time this summer.

Wrexham confirmed the signing of Nathan Broadhead in a deal reportedly worth up to £10m to bring the forward from Championship rivals Ipswich.

Phil Parkinson is concentrating on preparing his squad for the first home game of the season against West Brom but is still keen to further strengthen his squad.

Wrexham are keen on signing Jack Robinson from Sheffield United but former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already told Parkinson which defensive target he should sign before the looming deadline.

Arsene Wenger hailed ‘immense’ Wrexham transfer target Calum Chambers

It is clear that the Red Dragons are looking to add to their defensive options despite already securing the signings of Conor Coady and Liberato Cacace.

Wrexham are interested in Calum Chambers from Cardiff City and the England international has already been given the seal of approval by one of the greatest managers of all time in Wenger.

The Frenchman managed Chambers at Arsenal and speaking to the Evening Standard back in 2018, hailed the defender’s qualities.

Wenger stated: “He’s done well – he’s more mature. [Last year at Middlesbrough] he gained the belief that you have the level to play in the Premier League, that you can do it and you get that confidence from your manager for a long period.

“That gives you confidence and from that confidence you can express your qualities. For Calum Chambers, those qualities are immense.”

Calum Chambers arrival would bring more Championship experience to Wrexham squad

Chambers’ arrival would be bad news for Dan Scarr as Parkinson continues to mould his 25-man squad for the upcoming season.

However, the 30-year-old has great versatility across the back three and can play in a holding midfield role too.

Despite suffering relegation with Cardiff City last season, Chambers has good experience of playing in the second tier having made 41 appearances in total.

If Wrexham do decide on Chambers as their next defensive acquisition, they will be getting a player of high quality and ready to help tackle the challenges of the upcoming season.
