Wrexham striker Sam Dalby is set to be on the move this summer. But where he ends up remains a mystery.
Wrexham are releasing eight players this summer, one of whom is Sam Dalby. Phil Parkinson’s side offered the 25-year-old striker a new contract in January but he rejected the deal, and will now become a free agent.
It comes after a whirlwind season for the frontman who scored 15 goals on loan at Dundee United. He helped the club secure a Europa League qualification spot for next season with Dalby being named Dundee United’s Player of the Season too.
Since, reports have stated that Dundee United will offer Dalby a contract to stay with the club on a permanent basis. But on Friday, Dalby appeared to say goodbye to Dundee United with a post on social media, thanking the club for an enjoyable time on loan.
Then in the evening, Wigan Athletic were linked with Dalby, on what was an eventful day for the departing Wrexham man.

Unnamed League One club in pole position to sign Sam Dalby ahead of Wrexham exit
Reacting to the news that Wigan Athletic are in the running to sign Dalby, Wigan Today has provided some clarity. They write that “another unnamed club, believed to be another League One rival in the north west, are in pole position to complete the signing” of Dalby as a free agent this summer.
Of course, many will assume that club is Blackpool. Recent reports have revealed that Blackpool are keen to sign Dalby this summer with Tangerines manager Steve Bruce having travelled to Tannadice to watch Dalby in action with Dundee United towards the end of the 2024/25 season.
Meanwhile, Wigan Athletic are linked with Paul Mullin who looks set to leave the Racecourse this summer, and Parkinson could even let him go on a free despite him having another year on his contract.

Who else could be leading the race to sign Sam Dalby this summer?
There are a number of League One clubs who play in the north west who could be in the running to sign Dalby this summer.
Along with both Wigan Athletic and Blackpool, there’s also the likes of Stockport County and Bolton Wanderers, and those two teams could prove very attractive propositions for Dalby.
But right now it seems like all signs are pointing towards Dalby moving to Blackpool: after the club’s previous links, Dalby’s goodbye message to Dundee United, and this latest report from Wigan Today, a move to Blackpool might already be a formality for Dalby.
And if he goes on to perform in League One next season then Parkinson and Wrexham might come to rue the fact that they couldn’t keep him for longer.
