Wrexham striker Sam Dalby has been a bit of a talking point throughout the year, whilst his future at the Racecourse has remained unclear.
Sam Dalby has been a huge hit in Scotland. Joining Dundee United on loan for the 2024/25 campaign, the big striker went on to score 15 goals as the club earned a spot in the Europa League qualification rounds for next season.
In the end, Dalby was named Dundee United’s Player of the Season. But when Wrexham’s retained list was released earlier in the month, it revealed that Dalby has rejected a contract renewal from Phil Parkinson’s side, and he’ll now become a free agent.
The 25-year-old now faces a crunch summer with a big move potentially on the cards for Dalby. But all signs have so far pointed towards Dalby remaining at Dundee United on a permanent basis, especially so with the club now able to offer European football.

Sam Dalby says goodbye to Dundee United in social media post
Just recently it was claimed that Dundee United are set to offer Dalby a contract to stay with the club on a permanent basis. And Dalby himself said that he would certainly be open to staying at the club, even hinting that he wanted to sign a permanent contract.
But posting on social media on Friday, Dalby appeared to say his goodbyes to Dundee United in rather surprising circumstances, given the news of a contract offer and Dalby’s recent comments.
In a lengthy post, Dalby wrote: “I would like to thank everyone involved at @dundeeunitedfc from the fans to the players and staff for an unforgettable season. From the moment I got here I felt a part of the family and for that I’ll forever be grateful. The club deserves European football and I can’t say how happy I am to be a part of the team that helped achieve that. Thank you for an amazing season.”

Where will departing Wrexham striker Sam Dalby end up this summer?
Given the fact that he’s had such a strong season in Scotland, Dalby could well seal an exciting transfer this summer with top end League One, or maybe even a Championship move, his likeliest outcome.
Already this summer, Blackpool have been linked with Dalby. But there’s no saying that Dundee United and Dalby don’t come to an agreement later in the summer, despite Dalby’s goodbye message to the fans.
There could be several Championship clubs sniffing around him and that could well come back to haunt Wrexham, although Parkinson has some exciting strikers on his radar this summer including the likes of Danny Ings.
