Wrexham have said goodbye to another striker after Jack Marriott completed a permanent move to League One side Reading.
Wrexham have racked up 10 signings this summer, and Phil Parkinson is still eyeing more additions before next week’s transfer deadline.
The problem is that Wrexham’s squad is already pretty bloated, and players need to move on in order to facilitate incoming business.
Jacob Mendy is available, and Ollie Palmer could leave, as Parkinson prepares to say goodbye to players who have been crucial in Wrexham’s rise.
Palmer could follow fellow strikers Paul Mullin and Modou Faal in heading out of Wrexham, and another striker has now moved on.

Reading announce signing of Wrexham’s Jack Marriott
Rumours emerged last week suggesting that Reading were interested in signing Jack Marriott.
Marriott joined Wrexham in January 2024 and initially struggled for goals as Parkinson clinched promotion from League Two.
Marriott started last season in blistering form, though, racking up five goals in his first 10 games in League One.
The 30-year-old then suffered a cruel injury blow and missed three months of action, managing just one goal after his return.
Wrexham have added a number of goalscoring options this summer, and Marriott has now decided to move on in search of first-team football.
League One side Reading have now confirmed Marriott’s arrival on their official website, handing him a three-year deal in a permanent move.
Marriott will take the number seven shirt at Reading and will hope to become the Royals’ latest goalscoring hero, just like now-Wrexham forward Sam Smith was before his January move.
Phil Parkinson explains Jack Marriott sale
Marriott is unlikely to be the only player to leave Wrexham before the transfer deadline, as Parkinson trims his squad.
The move sees Marriott move to a club where Wrexham boss Parkinson is an absolute hero from his playing days.
Speaking on Wrexham’s official website, Parkinson wished Marriott all the best at Reading, praising the striker as a ‘great lad’.
Parkinson explained his decision to sell Marriott, highlighting that his unfortunate injury halted his momentum at Wrexham and forced him down the pecking order.
“I’d like to wish Jack all the best at his new club; he’s a great lad,” said Parkinson.
“He started the season off so well last year, but had such an unfortunate injury. I’m sure he’s going to be a great signing for Reading,” he added.
Marriott departs Wrexham with a record of seven goals in 48 games across all competitions, and leaves having played his part in two promotion-winning campaigns at the STōK Cae Ras.
