Wrexham are set to part ways with club icon Ollie Palmer this summer, and another player could depart as well.

As the 2025 summer transfer window draws to a close, much of the focus at Wrexham is on exits.

Another midfielder is expected to be signed, with Jordan James a target for the Red Dragons.

But it does seem as though the majority of the business in terms of incomings is now done, with 10 players already signed.

Among the players who could now depart before the window slams shut on September 1 is Ollie Palmer.

Palmer joining Sheffield Wednesday seems unlikely despite recent links, but there are other clubs interested.

Ollie Palmer leaving Wrexham

Palmer to Dorking Wanderers has been quashed in the last couple of days after that rumour emerged.

But at least two teams remain in contention for the Wrexham striker’s signature.

On that front, journalist Nathan Salt has commented during the latest Rob Ryan Red podcast episode.

Speaking this week, Salt has said Palmer is leaving Wrexham and named two EFL clubs who have interest, one of whom is said to be ‘really keen’ on him.

He said: “Ollie Palmer is set to leave. I know Swindon are really keen on Ollie Palmer, as are Bristol Rovers.”

Wrexham player ‘free to leave’

Away from Palmer, Wrexham still have an inflated squad as the EFL deadline to register 25 players nears.

So, unless a number of players are willing to play no league football until January, more exits are expected.

On that front, Salt has added that Tom O’Connor is now ‘free to leave’ in the remaining days of the window.

He also commented on Harry Ashfield staying at Wrexham this summer.

He added: “Tom O’Connor, he is free to leave basically, there’s interest from him. Looks like Ashfield will be staying now.”

Meanwhile, there has been some suggestion this week that Jacob Mendy could stay at Wrexham despite previously being mooted for a loan move.
