Wrexham are preparing to break their transfer record yet again under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.
It’s been a quiet couple of weeks on the transfer front, but business is picking up at the Racecourse Ground.
After links emerged some time ago, it’s now been reported that Wrexham are set to sign Liberato Cacace from Empoli.
Phil Parkinson could hand Cacace a new role once he arrives in Wales, for a reported transfer fee of £2.2m.
That figure will make the versatile left-back the club’s latest record arrival, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac having already helped the club set a transfer record on numerous occasions since they became owners.

It didn’t take long for the North Americans to start splashing the cash in North Wales.
Paul Mullin arrived for free in their first transfer window as owners, with his long-time partner signing six months later.
Wrexham paid £300,000 to AFC Wimbledon for Ollie Palmer in January 2022, which was a record at the time.
Two and a half years later, that record was broken when Ollie Rathbone signed from Rotherham United in a deal worth around £480,000.
That record stood for just a couple of weeks, however, with Wrexham paying £590,000 for Modou Faal in August 2024.
Their most recent record signing saw the Red Dragons splash £2.02m on Sam Smith in the 2025 January transfer window – a fee Cacace will surpass shortly.

Now that Wrexham are competing in the Championship, multi-million-pound deals should become a lot more frequent.
On this front, the Welsh club are heavily linked to another player who is thought to be worth more than double Cacace.
Wrexham want Lewis O’Brien, who has been linked to Birmingham City as well, and it’s thought Nottingham Forest are willing to accept around £5m for the experienced midfielder.
