Former Wrexham players including star forced out by Phil Parkinson reunite two months after exits confirmed

Two players released by Wrexham after the 2024/25 season have now reunited away from the football pitch.

The Red Dragons won yet another promotion in April 2025, beating Charlton Athletic 3-0 to earn second place in the third tier.

It was another superb achievement, but as has been the case following all of the club’s recent promotions, it meant previously key players left.

Wrexham confirmed on May 16 that eight players were being released at the end of their contracts.

And two of those names have now linked back up two months on from their exits being confirmed.

Goalkeeper Mark Howard confirmed his Wrexham exit on May 15, suggesting he wanted to sign for a new club so he could keep playing regular football.

Meanwhile, after finishing as the club’s top-scoring striker in 2024/25, Steven Fletcher said he was departing Wrexham, ‘not by choice’.

The contract decisions of players rest with Phil Parkinson and not with the owners, as was made clear last week when Rob Mac said he found out one of his favourite Wrexham stars was released when checking social media.

Now, after departing Wales, Howard and Fletcher have spent the last several days together on the golf course.

The duo have shared various Instagram stories and posts, with the former replying to a story from Fletcher’s golf Instagram with the caption ‘what a couple of days!!’.

Every released Wrexham player with a new club

In total, eight players were released by the Dragons in May 2025, several of whom now have new teams.

While he’s yet to officially find a new club this summer, Liam Hall has been on trial at Rotherham United.

Fletcher and Howard are yet to be linked with any new teams this summer, but free agents can secure moves mid-season, as Wrexham fans will be aware following signings like Matty James, who joined in October.
