Five deals Wrexham could complete in the January transfer window include a former 17-goal Premier League star

Wrexham are flying in their push for a third consecutive promotion under Phil Parkinson, but improvements can always be made in the transfer market.

With the transfer window just a day away, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will be eying up their options to further boost an already excelling Wrexham squad.

Wrexham look set to sign a striker in the transfer window, with a natural goalscorer potentially the one piece that Parkinson is missing in his promotion-pushing side.

With that in mind, here are five deals that Wrexham could look to complete in the January transfer window.

Tom Bradshaw

After being linked extensively with Wrexham in the past, Parkinson may finally look to complete a deal for Welsh striker, Tom Bradshaw. Bradshaw was wanted by Wrexham in the summer window but a deal was never struck for the forward who has struggled for minutes at Millwall this season.

Bradshaw has shown the ability to be prolific at Championship level, scoring 17 goals in the 22/23 season, and in League One with Walsall in 2016. Given that Paul Mullin’s form has faltered so much this campaign, a move for an experienced goalscorer like Bradshaw could be ideal for Parkinson.

Ethan Wheatley

If Wrexham are looking for youth in the forward ranks instead, they could follow through with their rumoured interest in Manchester United starlet, Ethan Wheatley.

Wrexham are looking at Wheatley ahead of a potential move, but may face competition from League One rivals, Stockport County, for his signature. United are also reportedly yet to decide whether to loan or sell the 18 year old striker, which could slow down any potential deal.

Wayne Rooney praised Wheatley, who has scored six goals in eight Premier League 2 games, suggesting that the Red Dragons owners could be investing in a truly special talent.

Isaiah Jones

The Wrexham squad is reasonably strong across the board, but one particular position that may look light is the right wing-back position. Ryan Barnett is one of Wrexham’s brightest sparks this season but he could do with a higher-quality backup that can match his attacking output.

One option that may have appeared is Isaiah Jones, who has could provide the perfect cover. Jones is looking to leave Middlesbrough due to a lack of first-team football, which may make him available as a Championship-ready player if Wrexham were to get promoted.

Jones contributed to 11 goals for Middlesbrough last season, proving that he could be an extra attacking X factor for Parkinson in the crucial end-of-season run-in.

Jayden Danns

For a pure loan option in the striker role, Wrexham would struggle to do better than a move for Liverpool wonderkid, Jayden Danns. EFL pundit Liam Grice linked Wrexham with Danns, who burst onto the scene for Liverpool in their Carabao Cup final win against Chelsea.

Danns looked to be staking a claim for a first-team role at the Premier League giants, but an injury has seen him only return to action in December meaning that a loan out to the lower leagues could suit him more.

A Championship move may be possible for Danns, but the winning mentality at Wrexham could prove to be a key factor for Reynolds and McElhenney if they look to make a move for the Liverpool man.

Patrick Bamford

Undoubtedly the most ambitious option on this list, a potential Wrexham move for Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford would be incredible.

Bamford was linked to Wrexham by BBC reporters, with the once Premier League regular now out of favour at Leeds. Bamford scored 17 Premier League goals in the 2020/21 season, making it seem incredibly unlikely that he would drop to League One.

However, when Wrexham signed James McClean, it also seemed unlikely that he’d drop to League Two after starring in the Championship for Wigan Athletic, showing the unique pulling power of the Red Dragons that could be enough to intice Bamford to the Racecourse Ground.
