Wrexham are expected to sign a new centre-forward once the January transfer window opens.

The Red Dragons are sitting pretty in the automatic promotion places right now but do have one big concern to deal with.

Barring Jack Marriott, who hasn’t played a single game since the beginning of October, Wrexham’s strikers are really struggling on the goal front.

Paul Mullin has just one league goal in 16 appearances this term with midfielder Elliot Lee and centre-back Max Cleworth currently the club’s joint-second top scorers in 2024/25 (4).

In turn, it is not too surprising to see Wrexham wanting to sign a striker in the 2025 winter window.

We previously provided an exclusive update on the Red Dragons’ striker search, revealing that Wrexham would prefer to loan a centre-forward in January and are looking at a potential move from the Premier League or Championship.

Wrexham urged to sign Liverpool striker Jayden Danns

With the hectic festive period just getting underway, Premier League clubs are still assessing which players they would be willing to loan in January.

Arsenal gem Khayon Edwards could be an option for Wrexham, while another rising star from the top flight has now been touted as someone Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds could look to sign.

Speaking to Football League World, EFL pundit Liam Grice suggested the Welsh side should try to sign Liverpool’s Jayden Danns, though they could face competition from Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle.

He said: “I think we should be looking at young Premier League strikers to maybe sign on loan.

“I know he was linked with Plymouth Argyle, but Jayden Danns on loan from Liverpool could be a really good acquisition, so I’d be looking at him really as another option as a striker.”

What Roy Keane said about Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns

Danns is a product of the Reds’ academy and has spent his entire career to date on Merseyside.

Despite only being 18 years of age, the striker made his senior debut for Liverpool last season.

He featured as Liverpool won the Carabao Cup final and scored twice when coming off the bench against Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

After netting his brace against the Saints, Roy Keane was quick to praise the young forward.

He said: “I was probably more impressed with that goal [Danns’ third] than maybe his first goal.

“Just that reaction…look it’s amazing. When the shot comes in he’s on the move, defenders on their heels – instincts. He made it look easy.”

The teenager is yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool this campaign, however, so Arne Slot could well be open to letting him leave on loan.
