Wrexham paid around £6.5million to complete the signing of midfielder Ben Sheaf on transfer deadline day.
Wrexham wanted to bring in another midfield addition before the transfer window closed earlier this month.
Kenny McLean was on Wrexham’s radar, but the Scot will instead captain Norwich City against Phil Parkinson’s side this weekend.
Parkinson did find his new midfielder, though, as Ben Sheaf completed a late move to Wrexham from Coventry City.

Frank Lampard on Ben Sheaf to Wrexham
Sheaf did not come cheap, as Wrexham forked out around £6.5million to secure his signature.
A proven Championship midfielder, Sheaf made his Wrexham debut against QPR and will now look to establish himself as a key player under Parkinson.
Sheaf served as Coventry captain but has now decided to leave Frank Lampard’s side in order to join the Wrexham project.
Lampard has now reflected on Sheaf’s exit, telling the Coventry Telegraph that he has full respect for the midfielder’s time at Coventry.
Lampard admitted enjoying his time with Sheaf, branding him a ‘big player’ and an important part of the Coventry side.
The former England and Chelsea star suggested that Wrexham represented an ‘interesting’ opportunity for Sheaf, and the deal ultimately made sense for the Sky Blues.
“The first thing is to respect what Ben Sheaf did at the club. He was club captain and has been part of a lot of things here, and was an important player for us. I enjoyed working with him,” said Lampard.
“Sometimes situations arise which may be interesting to a player. We have to see whether it can work for us, and it was one of those situations. So thanks to Sheafy for everything he gave to the club.
“I think a lot of people will back me on that, fans included. I think he was a big player for us, and I absolutely wish him all the best,” he added.

Ben Sheaf will play against Frank Lampard’s Coventry City next month
Sheaf has enjoyed the finest years of his career with Coventry, and leaving the Sky Blues will not have been an easy decision.
Reuniting with two of his former Coventry teammates at Wrexham will certainly have helped, with Sheaf now back alongside Dominic Hyam and Callum Doyle.
Sheaf doesn’t have to wait too long for a game against Lampard’s Coventry side, as they visit the STōK Cae Ras on 31 October.
Wrexham head to Coventry for the reverse fixture on 25 April 2026, with Sheaf surely in line for a brilliant reception upon his return.
