Wrexham have broken their transfer record twice already in this summer’s transfer window.
Wrexham’s January acquisition of Sam Smith for around £2m was the club’s record transfer heading into the window but Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have smashed that fee twice in a week.
The historic signing of Liberato Cacace was not only the club’s first major overseas signing under the owners but also commanded a record fee of around £4m.
That was then trumped by Lewis O’Brien’s record deal from Nottingham Forest for around £5m and it begs the question, how much more can Wrexham spend this window?

Wrexham’s remaining transfer budget following Lewis O’Brien and Liberato Cacace signings
Wrexham have a reported £25m transfer budget this summer and have already made a huge dent into that figure.
The signings of O’Brien and Cacace have been joined by Ryan Hardie and George Thomason in terms of players that a fee has been paid for.
Free agents Danny Ward and Josh Windass make up the six signings so far and although they will be on the wage bill, they do not affect the £25m available to spend.
| Wrexham summer signing | Reported transfer fee |
| Lewis O’Brien | £5m |
| Liberato Cacace | £4m |
| George Thomason | £1.2m |
| Ryan Hardie | £700k |
| Josh Windass | Free |
| Danny Ward | Free |
| Total | £10.9m |
It means that Phil Parkinson still has £14.1m of the initial budget remaining and that is without potential player sales.
Wrexham want to spend £10m on a striker but that would still leave funds for defensive reinforcements, believed to be the priority for the Red Dragons after their midfield acquisitions.
Players that could depart to boost Wrexham’s transfer budget
With the club having the transfer strategy of acquiring players for short-term success in recent seasons, the club have very rarely received a transfer fee for a player.
However, that should change this summer with a number of players under contract and looking to leave the Racecourse.

Parkinson has to name a 25-man squad, meaning that at least five players need to be axed by Wrexham in order to meet the EFL requirement.
With an abundance of midfield additions, George Evans and Elliot Lee are now likely candidates to move away from the club, whilst Ollie Palmer has also been told he has no future in North Wales.
