Paul Mullin is looking to leave Wrexham in the summer transfer window, according to recent reports.

The long-time Red Dragons centre-forward fell massively out of favour in the second half of 2024/25.

Paul Mullin did not feature once in the league for Wrexham after January 28, when he scored in a 3-2 defeat to Stevenage.

Mullin’s relationship with Phil Parkinson appears to be strained as a result of the forward being dropped.

The 30-year-old discussed the manager losing some ‘trust’ in him during the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham.

And while fans would no doubt love to see the attacker stick around beyond 2025, that is looking increasingly unlikely.

Paul Mullin to Wigan Athletic update

It emerged last month that Wigan Athletic were eyeing Mullin and that Wrexham could let him leave for free despite his contract running until 2027.

Wigan wanted Sam Dalby as well, but he’s since moved to Bolton Wanderers after running down his deal with the Dragons.

Now, Alan Nixon has shared another update on Mullin swapping Wrexham for the Latics this summer.

He wrote on his Patreon: “Wigan Athletic are close to a deal for Portsmouth striker Christian Saydee.

“The forward is due for a medical on Wednesday to finalise an ambitious move to the League zone outfit. Saydee has been chased by several clubs but Latics have funds to land him and also a partner.

“Paul Mullin is still in talks with Wigan about joining in a free from Wrexham.”

What Paul Mullin wants before Wrexham exit

If and when he does leave Wrexham at some point, he will instantly be remembered as a club icon.

However, Mullin’s Wrexham dream is looking increasingly unlikely to happen.

The club have secured promotion to the Championship ahead of 2025/26 and the number nine wants to play one game for the club in the second tier.

He said: “Just to play one game in the Championship at Wrexham would be worth absolutely everything, be the icing on the cake for this story, who knows where it could end.

“I’ve enjoyed absolutely every minute here.”

That could still happen with the window open until September 1 and the new season kicking off in early August, but he may already be a Wigan player by that stage.
