Wrexham snapped up Liberato Cacace on Friday, and that surely ended any interest in signing Liverpool’s Owen Beck.
Wrexham secured two signings before heading on the pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand, but have now exploded into life in the transfer market.
Monday saw George Thomason sign for Wrexham, completing a £1.2million move from Bolton Wanderers.
Thomason became Wrexham’s second signing in a matter of days, after New Zealand international Liberato Cacace signed from Empoli.
Josh Windass is also poised to join Wrexham, with Phil Parkinson landing major reinforcements ahead of the new Championship season.

Derby County set to sign Wrexham target Owen Beck
One man who seemingly won’t be part of this Wrexham transfer bonanza is Liverpool’s Owen Beck.
Wrexham were linked with Beck earlier in the transfer window, and a move to the STōK Cae Ras would have been an emotional one.
Beck hails from Wrexham and could have made a homecoming move to join Parkinson’s squad ahead of the Championship season.
The Welshman has seen Liverpool sign another left-back in Milos Kerkez, and he is ready to move – but not to Wrexham.
The Telegraph’s John Percy reports that Beck is now on the verge of signing for Wrexham’s Championship rivals Derby County.
It’s stated that the Rams have agreed a season-long loan deal for Beck, and he will undergo a medical with Derby in the coming days.
The move sees Beck reunite with boss John Eustace, having worked together at Blackburn Rovers – and joining forces again was a major factor for Beck.
Wrexham will welcome Beck and Derby to the STōK Cae Ras in September, before facing the Rams away from home in January 2026.
Owen Beck move was surely scrapped as soon as Liberato Cacace move became possible
We would have loved to see Beck in a Wrexham shirt, not just because he would have been a hometown signing, but because he is also a quality left-sided player.
Wrexham already have a left-sided signing secured, though, having wrapped up a deal for Cacace.
The New Zealand star has become Wrexham’s record signing and has played plenty of top-level football in Italy.
Securing Cacace permanently may have been more appealing than a loan deal for Beck, and Wrexham’s interest in the Liverpool man likely ended once Cacace became available.
Wrexham still have three more left wing-backs at the club in James McClean, Jacob Mendy and Sebastian Revan, so there will certainly be no hijack attempt from Parkinson as Beck nears his move to Derby.
