Wrexham are closing in on the signing of Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town.
Wrexham have agreed a fee for Broadhead believed to be in the region of £7.5m in a deal that would break the club’s transfer record for a third time this window.
Phil Parkinson is acquiring a squad ready to take on the challenge of the Championship and is assembling firepower and experience up top.
Broadhead has already scored at the Racecourse Ground during an international friendly for Wales and has also achieved something that will make the Wrexham owners sit up and take notice.

Nathan Broadhead achieved back-to-back promotions into the Premier League with Ipswich Town
Wrexham’s ultimate goal has always been to reach the Premier League and Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are now just one step away from achieving that target.
The owners promised to bring success and prosperity to both the football club and the town of Wrexham when they took over back in 2021 and are delivering upon that promise.
Should the Red Dragons complete a deal for Broadhead as expected, the forward has already achieved a promotion to the Premier League with Ipswich.
What made the feat even more impressive was that the Tractor Boys achieved the promotion back-to-back from League One.
Wrexham have already achieved three successive promotions and are showing the intent with signings such as Broadhead that they are ready to go once again.
Wrexham will take time to adjust to the Championship this season
Wrexham fans will be gaining confidence day by day that their team can compete in the higher reaches of the Championship this season.
However Wrexham have lacked pre-season friendlies and only have one more game against Groningen before their season opener at Southampton.

It is likely there could be up to nine new signings at the club before that game at St Mary’s and Parkinson’s team will need time to adapt and gel together.
The manager himself will also need a few weeks and training sessions to gain an idea of what he believes is his strongest team and that may change depending on availability and form of players.
