Wrexham have seen a summer transfer target move to a Championship rival on Wednesday.

The Red Dragons have made huge changes to their team already this summer, signing 10 players.

Nathan Broadhead has become the new record signing at the Racecourse, joining in a £7.5m deal that could rise to £10m.

Josh Windass and Ryan Hardie have arrived to add more firepower to the club’s attack.

Elsewhere, Kieffer Moore is dominating for Wrexham following his £2m addition from Sheffield United.

Now, the Blades have replaced the in-form Dragons ace with a player Phil Parkinson was looking to sign this summer.

Wrexham target Danny Ings joins Sheffield United

Amid their search for attacking reinforcements, Wrexham spoke to Danny Ings about a potential move earlier this summer.

The former England international has a wealth of Premier League experience and became a free agent on July 1 when his West Ham United contract expired.

It was reported earlier this week that Ings was training with Sheffield United ahead of a potential free transfer.

Now, the Blades have confirmed this week via their official website that ‘Danny Ings becomes a Blade after a short period training with the club, with the former Liverpool and Southampton ace signing a one-year deal with the option to extend.’

Ings has commented on the move, saying: “I am delighted. It has been a busy few days. When I spoke to the manager and he asked me to come up and spend some time with him and the group, I just thought it was a great opportunity. To be sat here now speaking to you, and the Sheffield United fans, is just fantastic.

“As soon as I spoke to the manager, I wanted to get up here and sit down face-to-face and meet everybody here. To be sat here now, and signed, it is really exciting.

“I’ve been keeping myself fit and I’ve just been waiting for the right opportunity. I thought this was a great one for me and a chance to progress my career as well.”

Will Wrexham sign another striker this summer

Despite not landing Ings, Wrexham have added a wealth of experience to their frontline.

Moore, Windass and Hardie have all excelled in the Championship previously, while Broadhead could come good after a big-money move.

With Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez signed in January as well, it means Parkinson has six options to choose from in two positions.

So, even after Jack Marriott’s exit, it seems unlikely another forward will arrive.
