Wrexham pushed Birmingham City all the way in a 1-1 draw but Phil Parkinson’s attention now turns back to the transfer window.
It’s not often that we see Wrexham in action on Thursday nights, yet we have now seen it twice in a row.
Sky Sports scheduling changes offered up a strange double-header for Wrexham, with the first part ending in defeat at Shrewsbury Town.
Wrexham had to hit back after that poor performance and Ollie Rathbone’s sumptuous opener was the perfect start against Birmingham City.
The Blues found a leveller through Lyndon Dykes but Wrexham could and arguably should have found won it in the second half.
Wrexham mounted real pressure on Birmingham but just couldn’t grab a winner, settling for a 1-1 draw.

Phil Parkinson shares Wrexham transfer update
Rob McElhenney was happy with a point for Wrexham with Phil Parkinson no doubt proud of how his side played.
Wrexham pushed Birmingham all the way and certainly deserve to be in this promotion race.
Wrexham do need to find some new signings though with a couple of additions potentially key to winning promotion.
Parkinson is yet to add to his squad this month but spoke about transfers after the final whistle on Thursday night.
Parkinson told Sky Sports (23/01, 22:25) that he always wants more players – just like any other manager.
The Wrexham boss added that bids have been rejected for potential signings but hard work is still ongoing.
Parkinson noted that Wrexham are in a tricky position, attempting to sign Championship-level players whilst competing with so many clubs for their signatures.
“I think, like everybody, you’re always looking for an extra player or two and yeah, we are looking – hard – and had some bids rejected,” said Parkinson.
“It’s not easy because the players we’re now looking at are at that Championship-level quality and you’re always competing with teams at the top of this division and the lower end of the Championship for those signatures, so it’s not easy,” he added.
One Wrexham transfer imminent
Sky Sports presenter Caroline Barker brought up the names of Jayden Danns and Michael Smith, but Parkinson remained coy in terms of names.
Wrexham do appear close to one signing though with Ryan Longman set to join from Hull City.
Longman was set for a Wrexham medical ahead of a £500,000 move on Wednesday.
Hull boss Ruben Selles confirmed Longman’s imminent exit with Wrexham seemingly close to announcing his arrival.
A versatile performer who can play in a number of roles, Longman can make a big impact for Wrexham – but Parkinson is surely chasing another goalscorer before the deadline.
