Wrexham are finally set for breakthrough in the January transfer window with Phil Parkinson closing in on a new signing.
The January transfer window now has less than two weeks to run and Wrexham are yet to make a new signing.
Fans have been desperate to see new additions arrive with promotion to the Championship on the line.
Wycombe Wanderers have shopped in Europe, Huddersfield Town have spent millions and Birmingham City’s summer spending spree leaves them top of the table.
Wrexham can’t afford to be left behind and that means Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will have to spend.
Wrexham want a new striker this month but Phil Parkinson looks set to add a utility man as his first January signing.

Championship ace set for Wrexham medical
Reports on Tuesday suggested that Wrexham were close to signing Ryan Longman in a £500,000 raid on Hull City.
Oxford United also wanted Longman but Wrexham were described as having ‘outbid’ them.
Gary Rowett hinted that Wrexham had won Longman’s signature and that deal now appears to be ever closer.
The Mirror report that Longman will now undergo a medical ahead of signing for Wrexham.
That £500,000 fee is again mentioned with Wrexham ready to finally welcome Longman to the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham wanted Longman over the summer and a deal now appears to be in place.
Longman won’t be signed in time to face Birmingham City on Thursday night but we may well see him in the stands watching his new teammates.
Andy Cannon’s past comments on Ryan Longman
Longman arrives as a versatile player who can play in so many different roles.
The 24-year-old has played as a winger or wing back on both flanks, whilst even featuring as a striker.
Longman will reunite with George Dobson and Ollie Palmer once his move is completed, whilst he will also be back with Andy Cannon.
The pair briefly crossed paths at Hull City but Cannon saw enough to be impressed.
Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail in 2021, Cannon hailed Longman after being set up by the wide man for a pre-season goal against Scunthorpe United.
Cannon suggested that Longman was ‘superb’ and caused no end problems with his quality out wide.
“Longy was superb down the line, I think he caused them problems for quite a bit of the game,” Cannon said.
“He looks a very good player – he cut in, I shouted for him to set me and I just let it go, and luckily it went top corner. I got a bit carried away for a pre-season goal! But hopefully I can do that in the league coming up,” he added.
Cannon and Longman will now join forces once again and will hope to win promotion to the Championship together at Wrexham.
